The failed trip meter is a common problem and the only repair is to pull the speedometer out and have it repaired by a speedometer repair shop, as far as the brake light goes u either have a defective park brake switch at the park brake or the brake fluid level is low in the master cylinder, make sure the park brake is adjusted correctly otherwise it will not come far enough up to activate the park brake switch and this will turn the brake warning light on. If the brake fluid is really low in the master cylinder fluid reservoir have the front brakes checked, they may be near to being worn out.

I am a 35 year Ford dealer ford trained master tech and i do know this vehicle from top to bottom end to end, so if u are serious about fixing it please follow my advice, have seen these same problems dozens of times at the dealer, the trip meter problem is very common and the speed MUST be pulled and repair, it is an electronic unit

The trip computer can fail for 2 reasons: the data flow to it has stopped or it is corrupted - both are generated by bad wiring. And since the alarm keeps going off the problem is at the wiring loom of the dash.
You must remove the instrument panel and check the wiring loom of the dash and its connections.

It's quite a complicated job so, depending on the rates of your local shop, around $300. But it can grow if the damage is larger or deeper in the wiring loom than what i think it is.

2002 ford excursion horn stopped working

The first step would be to check the fuse-box for a blown fuse associated with the circuit the horn is on. The fuse box can be accessed on the driver's side under the steering wheel. If this does not help, come back to FixYa, and I will be glad to be of further assistance.

you may have caused a short that caused this problem....check for a blown fuse that protects the guages...should be a fuse diagram inside the cover to the fuse box....

Trip computer not working!

There are only two possible ways to fix this. First, is the reset button stuck? If so, loosen it up. Second, if the reset button is ok, then the only fix is to replace the instrument cluster. And this has to be done at the dealer, because it has to be programmed. I hope your button is stuck! That is, if you're really that concerned about the trip odometer.

Instrument panel went dead

Checked Every fuse in the fuse box (no small task). This includes #4 - Power point Instrument Panel, #14 - Day time running lamps (auto lamps doesn't work nor does auto lock), #27 - ignition switch run feed, #35 - Instrument Cluster, #41 - Instrument Cluster, #42 - Delayed Accessory, #45 - Ignition switch run/start feed, #102 - Door locks body security module, #103 - Ignition switch, #110 - Ignition switch, & #116 - Ignition switch. But I also check all other ones as well, they all register OK. AC panel & radio work. Turn signals work. Mileage does not work, trip computer does. So, basically, everything works except auto head-lights, auto locks, and the dash cluster (no MPH, RPM, mileage display, Fuel, Temp, Tran Temp, and Oil Pressure).

When I hook up my horse trailer to my 2003 Ford Excursion, it blows the fuse for the running lights. The blinkers and brake lights work, but that is all. If I change the blown fuse, it will only blow...

fix the plug, car or trailer, and check the wiring and bulb sockets in the trailer
bigger fuses are equal to burnt wiring harness or fires in either vehicle
