The security system (VATS/PassKey) is having problems, it's typical on those cars and it will gradually prevent the car to start anymore. You can find a great write-up here: http://newrockies.ca , this has been the only thing that saved my Park Avenue.

Reset security code 2003 Chevy impaula

Instructions
    • 1 Attempt to start the car. If it does not start, or dies very quickly after it started, then leave the key in the ignition in the "ON" position and wait 10 minutes. Make sure the security light is flashing. After 10 minutes the security light will stop flashing and either turn off or stay on steadily. When it does, then turn the ignition off, wait 20 seconds and attempt to restart the car.
    • 2 Repeat this procedure three times in quick succession without removing the key from the ignition.
    • 3 Start the car following the third 10-minute waiting period. The car should start and stay on. If it stays running, then the codes have been relearned and the problem is solved. If the car still does not start then you may need to have all or part of the passlock system replaced

What does it mean when your security light stays on all the time on my 2002 alero

It its most likely the Theft Deterrent Module. If the security light turns on, then that indicates a problem. Personally I think your TDM is glitched out. It may be fine, or die tomorrow. I would seriously look into getting this fixed, or bypassing the entire system. Learn about it on this site.

The security light will come on while driving my 2002 Pontiac Firebird and stay on or else I can sometime just get into the car and it will not start and the security light will stay on until it reset and...

I got a lot of information about this security stuff from this website. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/ When mine started acting up, i did a bypass on it. It was alot cheaper than a dealer mechanic. If you are looking to fix it correctly, I think taking it to the dealer is the best way to go, like said in above post.... Good luck

My security light stays on in my car

If it stays on and the car starts you are in bypass mode.
Some times remote starting alarms have a switch under the console to put a car in this bypass mode.

If not pull the battery for 5 min. and relearn your key.

If still no luck you are me and you got a code in a BCM or PCM.

Just from changing a battery.....Love GM....well in the 60s maybe

Batt went dead /recharged now security light stays on when ing is

You need to reprogram the security system. Hook up a battery charger. Turn the key on, the security light should flash. Leave the key on until the light stops flahing.(11 minutes) Turn the key off for 20 sec. Turn the key on, do the same thing a second time, turn the key off. Turn the key on. Do this a third time. After the third 11 minutes and the light is off, Start the truck.
