I can't think of anything specific, except for the kick down cable passes through a grommet in the firewall. That controls the shifter lever to the tranny.

There are wireharnesses that pass through the firewall that goto the Junction box and ECUs under the dash.

How to check the transmisson fluid on a dodge journey sxt 2009

Hi, I will assume this vehicle has an automatic transmision, and a transverse mounted engine. If this is the case the transmision dipstick will usually be located under the hood on the passenger side of the car,
between the engine/trans. and the firewall. Some are on the drivers side based on exactly which drive train is in the vehicle. It will also usually say trans or something similar on it.This should be checked when the vehicle is hot running, in Park and on a level surface.
Hope this helps Vern

Clunking when i take off

sounds like a broken transmission mount, get a pry bar and stick it over the transmisson crossmember but under the transmisson and try to pry the transmisson upward, if it moves up and down replace the transmisson mount, if this isnt the problem my next guess would be the driveshaft u-joints, grab the driveshaft near the rear end and turn it back and forth to check for excessive play

Clutch is stuck to the floor and will not go into

master cylinder low on brake fluid or it is bad or a bad slave cylinder, look for signs of leakage on the firewall, it it leaks on the firewall its bad if it's on the transmisson it would be the slave. if the clutch master cylinder is full then it is most likely the master cylinder.

After warm up the transmission will not always shift up into Drive and overdrive causing the engine to race.

try checking the fluid level if it is even aa half pint off it can cause shift problems, if it is low add some Lucas transmisson oil condtioner this will help it shift smoother. also look at the color of the fluid is it brownish in color? if yes then it's time to change the filter and fluid. if you take it to a shop they chagre about $150.00 but it will keep you from damaging the transmisson. the oil and filter for the transmisson should be changed every 30,000 miles on any car. Thisis oone of the most overlooked items of maintence on cars peopel simply don't know about change the filter and oil till they have to pay for a new transmisson.

The flex plate cracked on my 1995 grand am.having problems splitting the engine from the transmisson

There is a bellhousing bolt that goes through the engine block and screws into bellhousing. You will need a long extension (2 to 3 feet) and an 18mm wobble socket to get to it. It is located on the firewall side of engine. Remove right side tire and using long extension and wobble socket you can get to it through the right fenderwell. Some GM cars have 2 bolts you have to get this way, one is right above the other one. Also, don't foget the torque converter bolts. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Tranny

Chryslers need clean transmisson fuild and the right type of fuild. I would check the transmisson fuild level and top up if needed. If the fuild looks old and dirty have the transmisson serviced witha fuild and filter change - 50-100 buck could save you big $$$ on a trans job later
