You may need a rebuild but have a reputable trans shop check it out to make sure it isn't in need of a fluid change or adjustment. (likely not)

This is normal. When driving my Jeep or most other vehicles, it is normal to be able to slip it into Neutral from Drive while driving.

What causes chugging and transmission slipping

Hi Michael,

Thats a sign that you need to have the transmission repaired. You need to replace parts like release bearing, pressure plate and clutch disc. This parts causes the slipping and chugging.

Thank you!

Transmission slips after engine warms up

It isn't when the engine gets hot, it is when the transmission fluid gets hot that the slipping starts, due to wear of the clutches and gears inside the transmission.
First, check the fluid level to make sure it is full. If it is low, bring fluid level to full and see if that helps.
About all the owner can do with slipping automatics is trying a transmission fluid and filter change to see if transmission revives and stops slipping. The bottom pan is removed, fluid (about 6-8 quarts) is drained, and a new filter is installed before the pan is replaced with a new gasket, sealed up, and fresh fluid added. Sometimes it helps. Sometimes the transmission is worn too bad to help, and you are left with looking for a replacement transmission.
Check the fluid level first. Good luck.

Transmission over drive is causing the transmission to slip. When I take off the overdrive the transmission functions normally but it uses much more gas.

Roger, that doesn't even make a whole lot of sense to me. If the overdrive is causing the transmission to slip, wouldn't it also cause the fuel mileage to go down? Are you sure the transmission is slipping? Or is the transmission simply shifting in and out of overdrive? If it is, is it shifting at the proper speeds? Driving at around 40 - 50 Mph will sometimes make the transmission go in and out of overdrive repeatedly. This can be perfectly normal.

Have you checked your transmission fluid level?

Is your overdrive off light flashing? If the transmission is actually slipping the OD OFF light should be blinking at you to let you know there is a transmission problem. Either that, or the Check Engine light will be coming on. In either of these cases, you need to scan your onboard computer network for possible fault codes.

2001 Odyssey transmission is slipping. even at 65 mph. Had it flushed but to no avail. Sometimes the gear indicator light will blink in Drive and it stops slipping but has almost no acceleration from...

This is a well known issue for Odysseys from 2000 thru 2003. Honda improved the transmission in 2004. Basically, you need to make a decision. Trade in your vehicle while you can still drive it, or have the transmission rebuilt (or replaced) by a reputable shop; preferably before it leaves you stranded with an expensive tow charge. The transmission will eventually slip so badly that the car will not be drivable. I have a 2002 Odyssey that had exactly the same symptoms and I barely got it to the trans. shop in time.

I am getting a code of 0700 transmission control system malfunct.

this seems like a problem of a loose belt inside your trans. if it hits overdrive and slips into nuetral till you lower the rpms then yea its a problem inside the trans.

99 jimmy trans issue have fwd & rev but....

Best thing to do is get the ECM on the jimmy scaned for codes. I believe Auto Zone will scan for free and some transmission shop as long as there honest will scan the ECM too and let you know what you realy need.

The ECM controls the transmission and if there is any conflicts between the transmission or engine the Jimmy will go on a limp mode and your transmission will not shift to OD and may seam to be slipping.

If it is a transmission problem the scan will pick it up, same as to if it's a engine problem.

Good luck and hope this helps, Just trying to save you some money by finding out what is causing the problem.

My 2003 voyager sometimes will downshift as I'm driving down the highway and sometimes sounds like it's slipping into nuetral sometimes, this doesn't happen all the time, it will go a week with no problems...

Do yourself a favor & get it into a transmission shop or dealer for proper diagnosis now. If expensive, you can always refuse & get second opinion elsewhere. May be as simple as cleaning a connection, but the sooner the better. Today's transmissions are so temperamental, and destroy themselves so easily now compared to years ago, that it just doesn't pay to put it off.

97 neon pops into nuetral when I hit 25 mph....

Sounds to me like you are having a transmission problem.  Basically your transmission has gone into "limp" mode which is why you can drive your car up to 25mph but no further.  Basically your transmission has limited it self to reverse, neutral, and 1st gear.  Take your car to a transmission shop and have it diagnosed.  Often a simple flush and fill will fix the problem, but you might need a new transmission.
