Question about 2000 Chevrolet Malibu

1 Answer

Drove through a deep puddle. First the Battery light came on then the check engine light started flashing my car sputtered a little so I pulled over and shut it off. A few minutes later I started it again and drove home (a short distance) The light stopped flashing but I have no power steering. Anyone know what is going on. My car is a 2000 Chevy Malibu

NORMAL, BELT SLIPPING. CHECK THE P/S FLUID. IF IT'S BRIGHT PINK OR MILKY YELLOW THERES WATER IN THE FLUID AND NEEDS TO BE DRAINED AND REFILLED.

I drove my 2007 Rav 4 into a deep puddle. The engine turned over but wouldn't start.after a while it did,I made it home.Next day it wouldn't turn over at all.

You probably have shorted out the inline coils connected to the spark plug wires. This can be checked by pulling the spark plugs....one by one....and seeing if you have spark. If one or more does not...replace the inline coils.

Drove through puddle - Battery light came on, temperature gauge all the way up, cold air blowing out of vents

Sounds like it may have blown a hose and you lost all the coolant. IT could also be that the puddle you drove through caused the head gasket to blow. At any rate, this is not going to be cheap.

I have a 97 ford Taurus I went through a few puddles going 40+ they were kinda deep after I drove away my car turned off then I wait like 15 mins it started after a few try's drove it around went home...

Its probably ok. You may have caused the crank sensor to stop working.
If the check engine light is on I would have the computer checked for trouble codes.

Drove through a puddle, power steering out and temp gauge on high, battery light on

I've seen it happen many times on the older Caravans, if you hit a really deep puddle, the splash can knock the accessory drive belt off of its pulleys. You can just gently pry the belt back on, consult a service manual for detailed installation directions.

I have a 2001 Grand Marque with 151437 miles on it and never had a problem with it. Recently I drove through a very large rain puddle and now my car sputters and accelerates slowly. Oh and the check engine...

It seems to me youre being taken for a ride, if the problem started when you drove over the water puddle then that means that some water go into a key component somehow, perhaps the fuel tank itself or an electrical component. I would stay away from that shop and try to replace the fuel in your vehicle, if its possible for you. also try to take it to autozone if you can, they wil plug the scanner to your vehicle and tell you why the engine light is on for FREE! Good Luck.

My son drove his charger thru a deep puddle. the

Does the engine turn fully or not? If not the connecting rods are more than likely twisted to your pistons if he hit the deep puddle at a fast rate of speed. The pressure of the water would of passed through the engine's crack seal producing deadly effects to the engine

I would check that the auxilliary drive belt that runs the alternator and probably the water pump hasn't just broken, causing the engine to overheat and the battery to run flat. Just a suggestion, hope it helps.
