Mine does the samething. I can get it to turn over but i have to pull it out just a hair and turn it. Hypothesis: I think as you use your key more the tip begins to wear down, shorting the total length of the key so the tumblers don't line up quite right. Pulling it out just a little lines them up correctly. get a new key are learn how to "adjust" it. It is just habit for me now. (too cheap to go get a new one :P

My 2004 Pontiac Grand Am ignition switch all of a sudden with the key will not turn on or turn at all for that matter this has not happened before Why ?

It sounds like your telling us the key won't turn in the ignition anymore for some reason. If that is the case the problem is one or more of the tumblers in the ignition have fallen, if this is the case you will have to replace the ignition itself or at least the ignition core. If you mean the key turn but the vehicle doesn't start I would start by disabling the alarm system you installed to eliminate the starter kill switch as the source of the problem. Also, if this is the case try jumping the vehicle. If it turns over and starts with a jump your problem is the battery having a dead cell in it. It can have all the world but if you have a dead cell it doesn't have the amperage to turn the starter over.

It is possible a fuseable link going to the starter may be faulty.
