Question about 2009 Audi A4

2 Answers

I have a 2009 audi A 4, 3.2 litre, and am desperately looking for help in how to remove the front passenger headrest which is so intrusive my wife can't sit in the vehicle. I would hope there's a solution which doesn't involve removing the leather seat cover first in order to get at a headrest removal button, but I really don't know. Milton Blake

Hi! Can you see the headrest button near the two poles? It should be there, may be concealed for they look all the same. Try depressing the sides and you may get it afterall. Hope this helps and have a good one!

I can't find the headrest button you're mentioning. Can you described exactly where it is? I have tried pressing on the vertical stitch about an inch down from the horizontal stitch, but nothing happens. Am I supposed to press near the left or right pole on the back of the seatback, or both. How do you know when the headrest becomes disengaged? Do you happen to have a picture? Thanks very much.

Alright, on the back of the seat just a couple of inches below on the left pole there is a release button that has to be pressed while you pull up the head rest. This button is concealed but you can be able to feel it. You will need a little help to remove the headrest. Push the button on the right hand side to enable to move the head rest up then insert a small screwdriver in the slot outside of the left hand post then pull the headrest out. You must push and hold the button while your B man must jiggle the headrest out.

You have to pull off the seat back cover panel to get access to the clips to remove the headrest. The head rest goes down by pushing down on it, however it locks going up. You will need to push the little button that is either on one the side of the headrest or on one side of the rods on the seat top where the rods enter. Push and lift

Remove front headrest

There is a button you need to press at the bottom of one of the headrest rods (it is actually part of the main seat), but it is located right where the rods of the headrest enter.

How do I adjust the front headrest on my 2009 Lincoln MKS so that they do not tilt so far forward?

I turned my headrests backward. Worked great. In fact, I wonder if the engineers designed them that way but the production guys build them backward???
1) Tilt the seat way back to allow room to remove headrests, 2) Press and hold both headrest release tabs at the same time and have someone else pull out the headrest completely, 3) turn the headrests backward and insert into the two headrest guide slots (headrests fit the same either way). 4) No more pain in the neck !!!
Caution: I do not know what this does for whiplash injury protection but it seems OK for my own comfort with the solution. And it beats the pain in the neck caused by the bass-akwards design.

How do you remove the headrest on a 1998 daewoo

hi normally you can do this by...pulling the headrest top its maximum height , at the bottom you should see two black plastic rings, on either side of these rings are little partitions push these inward and pull the headrest at the same it can be a bit awkward but if you do one side at a time or get someone to pull the headrest while you push the clips in can be very helpfull...hope this helps please vote thanks

How to fix 09 accord ex-l headrest angle wife is 5'4 & it juts her head forward she can't use it without pain. what are the options

I bent the headrest posts that stick into the back of the seat - basically a "manual" way of tilting the headrest back. Just don't bend too much or the "active head restraint system" won't work right. I had the exact same problem (I'm 6'1"), now I can drive for more than 15 minutes without terrible neck pain.

Want a RAV4 but the headrests are terrible!

I moved one of the headrests from the back to the driver's seat. Had to open the legs a little bit but it fit.
Something else I found is that if one adjusts the seat so that it cradles one's body, thus maximizing contact between the body and the seat, and then puts the headrest back on it does not pushes one's head forward. Seems they designed it to be driven as if one was sitting on a recliner.
Although one can drive comfortably in that position, the headrest is massive and blocks the view over one's right shoulder.

How do you remove the front headrest for a 2009 bmw 335i

You can't remove the front headrests from 2009 or later BMW's without first disconnecting internal wiring that runs inside 1 of the posts for each headrest to the inside the seat. This wiring is part of the Active Restraint Safety System that was new for 2009.

If you force it and break the wire you will at a minimum need to spend about $300 at the dealer to resplice the wire by taking the back off the seat.

Front Headrests

There is a plastic cover, about 1 1/8" diameter, on the base of the post on each side. You can remove it with a screw driver by carefully prising upwards at the edge. They just clip down.
Once these are lifted away from the seat, you will see the wire clip that locks the headrest into the seat. Remove the clip on each post, and you can then remove the headrest.
Reassembly is the reverse.
