The transmission pump is located directly behind the torque converter (which is bolted to the flexplate). It's an hydraulic pump that pumps pressurized transmission fluid throughout the transmission.

I changed the flywheel on my 96 for explore.. n after i put it all back together. It didnt. Catch gears anymore..

Sounds like when you pulled the transmission out, your torque converter came out of the transmission front fluid pump. If it did, and you bolted it back together with out it being "locked" into the front pump, the front pump gears more than likely were broken, and the transmission will need to be removed and repaired.

When changing a pump rotor, tourque converter, gasket and filter on the transmisson, would you have to take apart the transmission to get to any of them?

There is nothing called a pump rotor in this transmission pump.It has a gear type pump with and inner and outer gear. You would need to remove the pump from the front of transmission to perform this repair(suspicious that it would need pump gears and not have major internal transmission damage, never seen that in 25 years of rebuilding)but would not have to completely disassemble transmission. The filter can replaced by removing pan on bottom of transmission and the torque converter fits into the pump at the front of transmission. You would need to remove transmission from the car to install torque converter. Are you trying to fix a problem or understand a repair that has already been preformed?Let me know if I can help.Good Luck!

My automatic transmission car takes 8 seconds to move from Park to Drive. It runs on diesel. Transmission fluid level is good

It sounds like it is loosing "prime" on the front pump unit. This can be due to excessive clearances in the pump or bad check valves or check ball springs. It usually results in front pump replacement.

Transmission fluid is pouring out between the transmission and engine is this a front seal leak?

Yes, it could be the front pump seal or even a cracked front pump ,either way the tranny has to come out.

1990 Ford F250 automatic dumped all transmission fluid. Is the trans cooler stopped up or a seal blown in the transmission?

Depends on where the actual puddle is at if it was towards the front of the truck you may want to check for a broken transmission cooler line. If it was towards the rear check the rear seal of the transmission. There is also a front pump seal that could be the problem check between the trans and engine where they mount together and see if its not leaking there if it is then it would be the front pump seal.
