Question about 2002 Dodge Stratus

Car has 170,000 miles and it all of a sudden won't

I have a 2002 dodge stratus sedan and it has 170,000 miles and it all of a sudden won't start. Was making a whining sound the day before. Could it be the timing belt or chain?

Could be the belt. Take the belt cover loose and see if it's turning when someone cranks it.

Why would a 2000 Stratus rough idle then die?

if now it won`t start it could be a spark(ignition)problem, check for spark at the plug. you should check for a code in the pcm this may help, not all codes set the check engine light. could also be a bad fuel pressure problem.

When is the next timing belt change on 2002 dodge stratus sedan dohc

Welcome to Fixya

If the engine is a 2.4 L SFI 4 Cyl, the schedule is every 105,000 miles. I do recommend 90,000 to 100,000 miles is the best time to replace.
