Question about 2003 Chrysler Town & Country

Open Question

2003 Chrysler Town and Country with 88K miles. After car sits for a while, starting car, putting in gear, and accelerating slowly, car sputters and stalls. Does not occur after car has been running for 10 minutes. Stall will occur when slightly pressing gas pedal and then removing foot from pedal completely. RPMS drop during coast. Car will recover RPMs sometimes after a "sputter" but stall other times. Replaced idle control motor at dealer which was failing diagnostics. Car was fine for a week and then reoccurred.

Do you often run your gas tank to near empty?
If so.......
This sounds like it may be as simple as cleaning the water or gunk out of the gas tank which is what I always do 1st because it's easy and inexpensive.
If your fuel is contaminated with gunk, grime, water and/or bottom junk like rust this will cause stalling and rough riding!
Try spraying a can of starter fluid in the air intake and see if it runs! If it does, it's most likely bad fuel or clogged injectors so....
Fill the tank with High Test, Add some dry gas and a good fuel system cleaner or 2 or 3 and this should dissolve all the gunk and clean the injectors! Read & follow the cans' instruction carefully.
If this cures the problem never let your gas tank get below 1/4 and especially never run it to empty as this is when the gunk and/or water will enter the system!
Hope this helps!
Good Luck!

Sounds like contaminated fuel or bad pump/filter. Now, just because I said that it's probably the crank sensor...Bottom line is do some testing. Or have someone test it. Begin with code scan...even if it shows nothing, that eliminates a bunch of stuff.

At idle, why does speedometer show about 5 or 6 miles per hour and the odometer shows the mileage going up while sitting still?

Could be a bad instrument panel(IP). Rough idle in gear could be a vacuum leak. Maybe a tune up.

Engine sputters when accelerating

The flashing light means the problem is serious enough to cause damage to the catalytic converter. Have the computer scanned for trouble codes to proceed. And get the plugs replaced.

Could a bad 02 sensor affect shifting in my 1996 chrysler town & country? When I started having problems I put a scanner on it, and the only code it put out was for a oxygen sensor. Could the 02 sensor...

Yes, the car will probably shift harder (if it has an automatic transmission) and it won't shift correctly when you try to accelerate at speeds over 30 MPH (it will downshift too many gears).

Sounds like a bad pump or converter. You need to check line pressure.
