Use a tool wedged between the pad and the rotor to force the piston back.

Don't get carried away, or you'll damage the rotor. Apply gentle pressure, and the piston will slowly go back into the caliper.

The pads don't quite reach the edge of the rotor (by design), and so there is a slight lip on the outside perimeter where the rotor is ever-so-much thicker.

How to change rear axle on 1998 town and country

This vehicle does not have a rear axle. It has 2 spindle hubs that are bolted into a housing with 4 bolts from behind the brake assembly similar to the hub assembly in the front except that the mount is static and has a spindle instead of a 1/2 axle joined to the transmission. To remove it, remove wheel, remove 4 bolt and and speed sensors if equipped with ABS brakes.. You may need to disassemble the brakes to get at the nuts & bolts.

How do you change the brakes on a 2004 chrysler town and country and where can you get the brakes for cheap?

Tools you may need: New Brake Pads, Jack and Jack Stands, Lug Wrench, Large Phillips Head Screwdri
Click on the link above for a few tips on how to start this job. Cheep parts can be found at any auto part store just ask for the lowest cost replacement pads and shoes they have. The front pads wear about 2x times faster than the rear shoes. So other than looking at them (rear shoes) I would just advise you to go for the front pads.

I need to change front brake pads

You have two bolts to remove the caliper (it will still be attached to the flex hose). then use a C clamp to compress the caliper piston (one side on outside brake pad the other end on the back of the caliper). Inspect other components, replace pads and reinstall. I would highly recommend replacing rotors as well or at least having them turned. Its a pretty easy job if you have done similar jobs in the past.

How in the world do you change brake pads on a 2002 Town&Country

After supporting the vehicle safely.....With the wheel off you should see two bolts facing away from you near the top of each end of the caliper.
Remove these two bolts then pop the caliper up and off with a big screw driver or pry bar exposing the brake pads.
Do not remove the brake hose.
Replace pads....push caliper piston back into caliper and reinstall caliper and bolts.
Thread locker (liquid) should be applied to caliper bolts.
Caliper sliders....the parts the bolts go into .....should slide easily in calipers.
Push brake pedal a few times to restore pedal height before driving.

How do you get the calipers off the rear?

Firstly you need to remove the park brake cables from the calipers. undo the bolts that hold the caliper to the hub assembly. lift the caliper away and yes you can buy new studs and nuts/bolts but you may need to go to a main chrysler agent to get them
