you should check and see the batttery smart visor indicator (if applicable - see owners manual)
this may be that the battery has been drained and does not have enough power to rotate the starter. lights, dashboard, instruments light up ok as the voltage is there but the power (amperage) is low. please refer to owners manual on how to recharge your battery. bare in mind that removing the baterry from the care will reset systems (audio, alarm) and you wil need to recode them by using the codes provided with the car.

Is this the first time your husband has changed the oil on your car? Wild guess here, but could he have inadvertantly drained the transmission fluid instead? Believe it or not, it does happen. Check the engine oil via the dipstick and see if there is way too much oil in there. Then locate the transmission dipstick and see if there is any in there. If not, you'll need to get some transmission fluid (very different from motor oil) and refill the transmission and then drain the engine oil and refill with fresh oil. For the record, engine oil problems shouldn't affect the transmission. If there is not enough oil, engine oil lights will come on and if run too long, the engine could sieze up (very bad).
