This is right from the owner's manual: Recommended Engine Oil: API Premium grade 5W-20 detergent oil . 5W-20 oil is formulated for yearround protection of your Honda, to improve cold weather starting, and to help your engine use less fuel. If 5W-20 oil is not available, a 5W-30 oil may be used. However, it should be replaced with 5W-20 at the next oil change. ---------- for more help in how to change oil and oil filter in your Honda car please click the link below. https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/om/AC0202/AC0202O00250A.pdf Thanks. SOURCE: honda accord 1992 I have a oil leak around the oil filter is it

is it an ex?
is it a bad leak?
it could be 2 things
1) oil pressure sending unit above the filter
2) "o" ring between the oil cooler and block on ex models only. the oil cooler is between the filter and block with 2 coolant hoses attached to it. also might be the oil filter. i replace alot of sending units and oil cooler o rings.

My wife drove my 1992 Honda Accord for approximately 4-5 miles with oil light on. Turns out the car was leaking.leaking its oil from timing chain area. Is there any engine damage?

Possibly, but I'd replace the leaking gasket/seal.
Also note, the Honda uses a timing belt (not a chain), and you don't want oil on the belt. If there's a chance the belt has gotten oil on it, you want to take the timing belt cover off, remove the belt, and clean all the oil covered parts. The oil can wear out the belt as well as cause the belt to slip timing

I just want to see what the best oil type is for a 1992 Honda Accord EX that I just purchased. It has high miles 220,000 so I just want to make sure that when the time comes that I have the best oil in it.

THE BEST ALL AROUND OIL TO USE IS 10W30W, DON'T USE ANY HEAVIER OR YOU CAN DAMAGE THE ROD AND CRANK BEARINGS, ANY MAJOR BRAND, I LIKE VALVOLINE, HAVE USED IT FOR 40 YEARS, NEVER HAD AN ENGINE FAIL, AND I DRIVE VERY HARD..

if it's slightly above the limit.. you could try putting in premium gas or an octane additive as that will lower your emissions slightly..

Just want to know how much oil going in the tranny of a honda accord 1992 automatic

The automatic trans on your 1992 Honda Accord holds a total of 6.4 quarts, and 2.5 quarts on a filter replacement, so the torque converter and the rest of the trans retains about 4 quarts.
