Sam thank you for your quick response. You mentioned that the 1997 Blazer S10 did not have struts? What if it is a four wheel drive? I was actually going to get them chamnged out at one point and was told I had struts. All this time i have put it off because of that. The visual shows me a shock inside a sprong. Is that not a strut?thanks again for your time

SHIFT LINKAGES LOOSE BENT OR BINDING AND WEAR.ALSO LOW ON LUBRICATION.COULD HAVE WORN INNER PARTS NEED A TRANSFER OVERHAUL.YOU COULD ALSO HAVE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM IN THE TRANFERCASE CONTROL MODULE OR FAILURE ALSO IN THE SHIFT MOTOR.
These are dangerous to do, But if you have the proper tools? You need a spring compressor, If you dont have one? For gods sake dont try, The spring load can break your arm or even kill you if not done correctly
On all the 90s s-10s there is a vacuum actuator under the battery tray and a vacuum switch on the transfer case itself. It is comon for the switch on the t-case to go bad and keep the front axle from engageing. If the front axle doesnt engage the truck will not have four wheel drive.let me know if this helped.
sounds like either a fuse or the do u have locking hubs that need to be engaged also when using 4 wheel drive there is actually only 2 wheels turning usually passenger front and driver back sometimes u also have to drive backwards to engage and also disengage 4 wheel drive finally it may be a transfer case problem check drive shafts and u joints make sure they are engaged
On the front diff you will find an electric plug. Unplug this, then remove the 2 bolts and pull out the solenoid plunger. Replace this and way ya go! Frankster016
