In most cars the water pump is outside the engine and is driven by the serpentine belt (that also drive the generator and air conditoner) ... so its a good idea to change that belt since it involves no increase in labor (they may charge for it but it takes no more effort to install a new belt then the old) ... also inspection of the belt tensioner and idler pully is a more than a good idea .. they may have frozen pivots or bad bearings that will cause later failures ...if they are in good shape then no need to change them unless they are available at a reasonable cost .. most off the shelf antifreeze contains silicates and thats responsible for most water pump failures .. silicate free antifreeze is available but at a higher cost .. thats money well spent... some cars have the water pump driven by the timing belt inside the timing belt housing .. now that can involve much more labor .. its prudent to change the timing belt and any warn idler or tensioner pullies while you are at it ... timing belt driven water pump repairs are expensive but those extra parts wont add a lot to the bill but will increase long term reliability greatly ... on a few cars the whole front end must be removed in order to change the water pump or even thermostat .. thats additonal labor ... hope you dont have one of those ..

SOURCE: Do I change water pump when having timing belt changed

I would go to auto zone and get a diagram and the timing belt and do it yourself and the water pump (no it does not have to be changed everytime the timing belt is changed but if the car has over 60,000miles then it is best to change them both) it is not that hard especially if the car is not out of time just make sure you disconnect the negative side of the battery

SOURCE: How to change Water Pump.

Remove the radiator upper hose. Remove the emmision control canister. Loosen the alternator belt. Remove the fan blades and the alternator pulley. Now the pump is all exposed for removal and replacement. Just do the reverse when putting all things back.

How to replace of water pump of tata indigo tdi

TATA Indica dicor timing belt installing its pretty much the same as this video you will need a timing belt kit as its best to change then at the same time, when doing the pump or timing belt its recommended to change them both this means that the water pump lasts as changing the belt when the pump goes can be expensive. watch video it shows how to remove the timing belt you just need to do the same as well as the pump .you will need a new seal for the pump if the replacement does not come with one.. when the old pump is removed sand down inside were the pump sits just to clean it. and inside if it has a lot of rust. flush the area out with water and leave to dry before fitting the pump . when fitted us a 50/50 mix on the water system.

I have a ford escort Zx2 2000 and my water pump is leaking bad I have lost pressure when I hit my gas pedal inorder to replace my gas pump do I have to replace my timing belt as well?

If the water pump is leaking, it needs replacement. Timing belt is replaced at certain mileage intervals . You can have the belt inspected by a garage. The timing belt does not have to be changed to replace the water pump. If a timing belt is changed, then it is standard procedure to change the water pump, since the water pump is removed when replacing the timing belt.

Need to no after how many miles we have to change the timing belt

It is recommended that a timing belt should be change every 100,000km. Honda's and Acura's especially. Whenever the water pump is changed, it is also wise to change the timing belt too as it is all in one spot, and VS. In some cars, [Acura's], when the timing belt breaks, it also can tear your valves in your engine apart, so I hope that this answers your question

How do I replace water pump and timing chain on 2.4 4 cylinder Chevy Cavilier

If You Only need to replace water pump, you need a special tool to hold water pump sprocket in place while changing the pump, Just look up GM 2.2 Water pump tool on e-bay, or ask a local auto parts store if they rent one out. Garages make out like a bandit to replace these water pumps, because you need this special tool to do the job, and ti is impossible to do it without . Good Luck

HOW TO CHANGE THE WATER PUMP

There isn't really an easy way, as the water pump is driven by the timing belt, requiring removal of the timing covers, timing belt etc to replace. This is definitely a job for a mechanic, or at least a skilled handyman with a lot of experience with timing belt replacement. The timing belt and tensioner will need to be replaced at the same time, but at least then you know that it will not need to done again for 100,000 kms (60,000 miles).
