Battery is charged. Went to start car at the end of the day, and there is a mechanical clicking sound (all dash indicators light) but the starter motor won't engage, and car won't turnover. Bad starter/Solenoid?

Do this to check if it's a bad battery, turn head light's on and try to start it, if head light go to dim or off, bad battery not holding a charge, if light stay on ok, then this will take two people tap on the starter kinda hard with a hammer or something you can reach it with while some one hold's to key to start, if it start's bad starter or trys to turn engine replace it.

Won't start. plenty of juice. Won't start, even with a jump. Very rapid clicking and all dash lights strong.

The clicking sound indicates that there is insufficient charge reaching the starter motor to turn over the engine. If you have enough charge going into the starter, use a multi-meter to check, test at no load and under load. Then check your terminals on the battery and starter to ensure all are clean and tightened properly.

My truck just clicks when I turn the ignition

Hi Shooter, Hope its just targets and not people! I would suspect the battery and the terminals. The fact that all other electrical circuits worked is no indication. It would be helpful to have the battery tested under load (when cranking) If you see the voltage drop below ten replace the battery. If the voltage is maintained, have the starter motor solenoid replaced. Regards John

MY 325I would not start - when the key was turned, it would just make a clicking noize. I tried t jump start but that din't help. I did crank and continue to crank for a few day but slow. today it...

This definetly sounds like a battery issue......the clicking is the starter motor receiving current but not enought to turn, and when it did crank, there was not enough voltage to provide power for the injection sytem........I would first be either charging or replacing the battery.......and seeing if it starts.......Then if it starts, I would be checking the charging system and all power devices, to make sure the new/recharged battery does not go flat........Good luck

02 Chevy Cavalier - Fast Clicking Noise When I Turn Key

your battery isnt holding enough charge to crank the starter.thats what the clicking is. try charging you battery for a good 8-10 hours, if it still does the same thing you'll need a new battery.

2006 Ford F-350 6.0 power stroke will not start

Battery is dead, replace it. Just went through it on my Windstar sport- that's how Fords are supposed to operate if the battery is non functional. (click click click gauges up and down up and down up and down... yeah that's the problem no doubts.)

My 2004 530i won't start.

If you hear a mechanical hum then its either something with the starter or the battery. Charge your battery and see if its just a little too weak to turn the engine over. If that doesnt fix it, then you might have to replace the starter. Unless there is a serious mechanical issue, your engine shouldnt be the reason the starter can't get it to turn over.
