The brown milky stuff is rust and you have mixed two different types of antifreeze together it formed a reaction, you will need to do a complete flush and top up with the correct antifreeze for your engine asap.DO NOT MIX ETHYLENE GLYCOL WITH ANY OTHER TYPE OF ANTIFREEZE..........

Just got a 96 Corolla and over heated. Noticed brown water coming out from under it. And when opened the radiator cap. Found brown sludge in it. Don't knw what to do

Sounds and looks like the radiator is corroded internally. My guess is that it has been leaking for a while and re-filled with water only and no anti-freeze to help keep it clean. Pull the bottom hose off the radiator and try to flush it out with a hose and see what you get.

My 01 Blazer is completely will not start. There is no turn over sound; Absolutely no sounds at all.

You could have serious trouble with the engine losing that much anti-freeze. If it is not leaking out somewhere onto the ground, it may be from a bad head gasket that is letting coolant burn in the cylinders (you would see white smoke out the exhaust), or it may let the coolant get mixed into the oil in the lower engine's crankcase.
Pull the oil dipstick and look at it. If the level is way high, or if the oil color is milky brown looking, then you have water (anti-freeze) in the oil-a bad head gasket, and a big expense to fix it. That would explain the rattling: water in the oil stops the oil from lubricating properly, and the engine bearings and other moving parts inside the engine can be damaged. If this is the case, and the reason for the rattling, then the engine is shot and needs a total overhaul, or you need a different engine.
If the coolant was leaking outside, post back. Has the engine ever overheated from low coolant? The rattling is worrisome-have a mechanic listen to it if you get it started. If it won't crank over, have someone see if the engine can be turned by hand-if it still turns freely (not siezed up), then the starting circuit needs to be checked for why the starter won't work. Good luck. Check the oil first thing.

My 96 gmc sanoma v6 engine is low on anti freeze.Every time i put antifreeze into the fill tank it drinks it up to where it gets down to a half gallon. There is no external leak anwhere, dry at bottom end...

Does your oil look normal? If it has a milky look that means coolant is getting into it somewhere. Do you notice more than normal steam or white smoke coming from the exhaust? Those are signs of a head gasket leak or an intake manifold leak. Do you notice the smell of coolant when you open the hood? They are notorious for have intake manifold leaks. There is also a heater hose fitting on the intake manifold that is notorious for leaking. I would test the cooling system with a pressure tester. You may be able to rent one. They are simple to use. Just remove your radiator cap and install the tester and them pump it up to the PSI listed on your rad cap. Let it sit and look for leaks. Pay special attention to the intake manifold, water pump, all hoses and radiator. Are you noticing anything inside the cab like the windows always fogging up or puddles on the floor. That could be a sign of a bad heater core. Pump it up and let it sit for a while and watch to see if the pressure drops or you see a leak. You may have to start it after a while as sometimes water pumps will leak when running and not when off.

I have a Pontiac Grand Am 2003 I opened up the hood and realized it had green antifreeze in it I got the anti freeze flushed out and put dex cool in it. Now its a milky subatanc in the oil I got a oil...

You are leaking water into the oil. You should also find that you are having to add water to the coolant. If you are lucky, this will be a head gasket problem. Could be that the head bolts are loose. Even if this is the issue the leaking gases have most likely damaged the gasket.

How to change thermostat on 98 xj8l

3, 8mm bolts hold it to the t-state housing located at the end of the upper radiator hose to the engine. The new T-stat will include a new seal. (if you notice a white milky substance on the old
t-stat you have a problem which may include needing a new water pump, by I digress) Do not put any silicone on the housing or seal.

after replacement, be sure all the air is out of the system, it will need to be "burped" and topped up serveral times before you go on a long road test. Be sure to use a 50/50 mix of Jaguar anti freeze and water to fill the system.

good luck!

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a brown or rusty crusty looking buildup on the sides of the radiator resevoir. I cleaned most of it out, but last week the air conditioner stopped putting out any cool air....

You need to replace the radiator, and flush the coolant system, some one added water previously and you can not add water, it must be coolant fluid, Anti-freeze.
