Spring on wiper arm became detached. How do you re-attach it ?

It Sounds Like, Either The Arms Are Loose ,If You Can Hear Something Moving Behind The Dash,
Or The Linkages Are Seized ,If The Motor Just Hums No Movement Heard,In Which Case Try Spraying Q 20 On The Linkage And Try Moving The Wiper Arms By Hand To Get It Going Again,
If Not The Motor May Just Be Burn;t Out.

Make it 180 degease.All two arms must be on one line.Put spring washer 8mm

At the base of the wiper arm there is likely a plastic cover or cap. When you remove that cap or cover there will be a nut that holds the wiper arm to the post. Align the arm back to it's proper position and tighten the nut. Typically they are aeither a 15 mm or 13 mm nut.

WIPER ARM SPRING BROKEN.YOU HAVE TO REPLACE WIPER ARM.I DONT THINK YOU CAN BUY REPLACEMENT SPRING INSIDE THE ARM BUT YOU CAN ASK.BUT I THINK THE WHOLE WIPER ARM HAS TO BE REPLACED.

At the base of the wiper arm there will be a plastic cover. Pull up on it an you will see a nut that holds the wiper arm to the post. Remove the nut and push down/up on the wiper arm to release it from the post. Once both wiper arms are removed you can remove the push pins that hold the cowl in place and remove the cowl. You will then have access to the wiper motor and linkages.

1992-98 Vehicles

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the rear hood seal. Remove the wiper arm assemblies by raising the wiper blade off the windshield. Move the slide latch away from the pivot shaft and slowly lower the arm onto the latch. This unlocks the arm from the pivot shaft and holds the blade off the glass. Pull the arm from the pivot shaft.
3. Remove the cowl vent screws and disconnect the washer hoses from the washer jets.
4. Detach the electrical connectors from the wiper motor.
5. Remove the wiper assembly attaching screws, lift the assembly out and disconnect the washer hose.
6. Unsnap and remove the linkage cover.
7. Remove the wiper module assembly retaining bolts and remove the module from the vehicle.
8. Remove the linkage retaining clip from the motor operating arm by lifting the locking tab and pulling the clip away from the pin.
9. Remove the motor retaining screws and remove the motor from the vehicle.
10. The installation is the reverse of the removal.

Press on the spring lock, located where the wiper is attached to the arm. You may need a screwdriver for this. Once the lock is depressed, pull the wiper away from the arm. To replace, slide new wiper blade onto pin until it clicks.

No removal of the arm is necessary. Typically, there will be a little lever on the wiper blade that will let the whole blade slide off the arm. Sometimes you'll have to hold it down and give it a little hit to make it slide off. The new one will slide on and click in.

This has happened a couple of times on my 1999 Pontiac Montana. Here's what I did to fix. Open the hood. Remove the shield over the the wiper cam mechanism on the passengers side. This is easy to access. Road salts and other dust and dirt gets in there and causes the sticking problem. Spray WD-40 in between the parts. Get in there with that little red spray straw and saturate it good, flush junk out. Get in the car and try the wipers. If I remember, you might have to manually place that little knob or lever on top of the cam in the opposite position to get it to resync, but try it first. Be sure the wipers are off when you're spraying the WD-40 so you don't injur your hands. I've had to do this twice and it worked both times.
