Mcdevito75 here, You"d need to move everything attached to the valve cover out of the way without disconnecting any hoses or wires, then you need the tools, a 1/4 inch drive ratchet set with long sockets and extensions. Chances are your valve cover is just a little loose from engine vibration. Let your local repair shop check it for you.

I have a 1996 grand am se v6, theres an awful oil leak right above the starter and oil is leaking down onto the starter , i have a mechanic looking at it he thinks its has something to do with the hea

Could be a leaking head gasket. A mechanic can add dye to the oil and use a blacklight to trace the source.
