Mine was doing that and it had a vacuum leak on the T shaped vacuum connector. that comes up from the mapp tank to the intake. When you get to high speed it sucks more air and revs up then trys to adjust itself and goes too far and revs down. I changed it and runs great. You should be able to hear it if it is a vacuum leak. Even at idle. Sounds like it is sucking air.
I think you are have what is called torque converter shutter. Go to an O'reillys or napa and ask for lubegard in the red bottle. Put it in and drive it for a couple of weeks. Hopefully it will help.
