I have a 2003 GMC Yukon XL. The Service Air Bag warning indicator has been turning on and off intermittenly and now it is on all the time. I have read through other forums about various causes and was wondering if the diagnostic tester at Autozone will give me any fault codes that can be used in troubleshooting the problem. If anyone else has any ideas on what I need to check please respond.
Thanks Nutsinboltz. Do you have any suggestions on what to check? Other forums suggested checking the connections on the wiring harnesses under the driver and passenger seats. Thanks Nutsinboltz. Yes, you are looking for yellow connectors under the seats, check that they are connected and no wires are broken, chafed or pulled out. The problem with this is even if they look fine visually they could still be causing problems with too much resistance.Yes, you are looking for yellow connectors under the seats, check that they are connected and no wires are broken, chafed or pulled out. either abs sensor failing or damaged and or hub failing the abs system is incorporated into the hub have vehicle scanned most auto stores offer this service for free
check brake fluid level first- if low add , second - look at wheels - if a lot of black/brown buildup on wheel- wheel cylinder could be leaking- warning lights tend to come on for a fluid problem
Sounds like your air ride is malfunctioning could be a defect in bag, line, or sensor or possibly more the ecm should fire out a code if you have a code reader
AH yes an easy one. Turn the key to the on position, press the accelerator pedal down 3 times and then on the 4th one hold down to the floor and wait for the display to reset. Turn the key off and verify it reset.
The steering wheel needs to pulled off, there is a short somewhere in there. Better have it done, cause if it isn't done right, the air bag can deploy.
hi for info the brakes warning light on dash is also an indication that brake fluid level is low? or there may be a leak resulting in fluid level drop ? also considering age of car you may need to inspect brake pads wear ? if your car has low brake pads wear indicators attached to pads ? or the hand brake switch req's checking to ensure it is being pushed to off position when h/brak is down ? so fluid level low is the obviouse 1st check as fluid will displace from reservoir as pads wear low hence the level indicator on fill cap trips on may i suggest if it is low level b4 you top up? check your b/pads if you have not done so recently? or replaced since new ? hope this helps you locate problem best wishes from the uk
