I have a 97 Maxima, recently it has been jerking while driving and it sounds like it is going to cut out. Also sometimes when sitting at a traffic light it sounds like it is about to die. When this happens I notice the rpm drops quickly. The biggest concern is while driving as I am scared it just dies on the road or highway when another car is driving behind me. Last week the crank sensor was changed as the mechanic thought this was the problem (also took it to Nissan and they confirmed this sensor needed to be changed). Please help.
I would take a good look at the fuelpump, this sounds like its loosing preasure at times, you said the dealer looked at it so i guess there are no codes stored in memory of the computer,i would take a shot and replace the fuel pump,
Another thing could be the idle air control valve, this problem only happens at syops or idle, then i would look at the idle air control valve, this is what keeps your idle,as far as the pump i said i would only look at that if the car would loose power while on the gas, but if this is only at stops or at idle then i would look at the idle control valve.
I am having the same problem with my nissan altima 2005, the jerking starts when the engine is idle and then on pressing the gas makes loud sound and would loose power and move slowly, took it to the mechanic, he feels it could be throttle body ? could he be right ?
