Sounds like you have a clutch issue. Your going to have to remove the tranny to inspect the pressure plate. Most likely its time for a clutch job. If its engaging in nuetral the the problem has to be clutch related. The clutch is the only link between the engine and trans.

Check the gear shifter lever. Also check the transmission. Also it indicates  linkage problem. The shift lever marker is showing you are in one gear when you are really in another. Check the other gears. Drive down the street with the marker in low see if it changes gears . i.e. it should not change. You can look at the tranny and find the linkage there should be marks on the linkage where the clamps have slipped.
If it cuts off due to it bogging down then it is a transmission problem loading up the motor .Check the transmission.
Get the car scanned at www.autozone.com to get the error codes.
As per the error codes you can get the exact faulty part replaced. Its free to get car scanned at www.autozone.com service center.
Thanks.

2000 Ford ranger 3.0 L automatic granny will barley move in reverse but drives good in forward gears what would cause this?

My automatic granny doesn't move that fast either. It sounds as though your reverse gear is going out, the only thing I can suggest is taking it to a transmission repair shop... sorry =(

F150 SUPERCREW 4X4 5.4L Got stuck in the snow and

sounds like transmission damaged. if forward gears are operational, suspect transmission failure. If nothing working ( either in 2 or 4 wheel drive) suspect transmission or transfer case.

Takeing my cluch and pressure plate out

place in nutral two ways you can do this. i recommend if it has the stud going through the top of shifter take it off the one side and put on other side and tighting untill stude comes out, its like a built in puller. if you cant doit that way remove three screws in cover plate and lift out the entire shifter must keep in nutral, if not you will have to line up slots in trany with a large screw driver to put back in. berrydalewolf

1997 f150 4x4 automatic-- will go into 4x4 on its own-- will not go in gear or into park- cut off and restart ND ITS OK-- DRIVE DOWN ROAD AND IT WILL GO OUT OF GEAR- RESTART AND IT WILL GO INO GEAR-- 0NLY...

check your shift lever and tranny.theres a detent cable that locks you into forward or reverse, if thats not set proper you will do both at the same time which would explain the retarded activity of the tranny. the 4x4 issue sounds like an electrical issue, check the switches in the cab as well as the fuses that cotrol the tranny and 4 wheel drive system.

1993 f150 4x4 manual tranny will not shift out of gear

You might try checking your transmission for broken gears that may have eaten the teeth away on it when your gears started grinding or broken off several things down inside there
