Hellomzraina813:My name is Roger and I will help you. There are two different motors that were put in this model car. One was a 2.4 DOHC and a 3.0 v-6 engine. I checked the factory specs. on both engines The correct specs for both are the same 41 to 47psi. The fuel range must be with in these specs. If the fuel pressure is less it will create a no start or very poor performance. A variation of just 2psi could cause a no start. I would also check t make sure you also have spark to the spark plugs.Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate your answer. This way I know it was helpful.Thank You for using Fix Ya. My 1996 Pontiac Grand Am is having problems when accelerating. I have already replaced the fuel filter, the catalytic converter, the spark plugs, and air filter. What is going on with my car?

Have you checked the fuel pressure because it sounds like a weak fuel pump.Your fuel pressure should be 41-47 with key on and engine off.If its not within these specs then replace the fuel pump.Anything below 41 psi would be considered weak.

1996 GRAND AM PROBLEM DISCOVER NO GAS PRESURE IN

It is either out of gas,and the gauge is wrong,or the fuel pump has gone out,the sound does not always mean the pump is pumping, just that the motor made with the pump is running, pump still could be bad.

My 1996 pontiac grand prix will not start. The engine will turn over but it wont fire

May have to get a code reader for this one..... Bad coil, open wire on crank shaft sensor, fuel pump, are among possible problems..... Try a bit of starting fluid, not much of too often mind you!
