I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee country which I installed new headlight switch. All lights work(low beam and high beam), but now I have no dash lights. What could be causing this problem?

Can you turn on the cab lights using the interior switch? If not, you most likely accidently disconnected the interior lights control dimmer/switch. If you can turn the lights with the switch then you accidently disconnected them or the jostling caused the bulbs to go out.

I replaced my headlight switch 3 months ago after headlights would go out for 10 sec's to 1 min. Now, suddenly my dash light won't come on no mater where I turn the dimmer switch to. But the strangest thing is when i turn on the rear window defroster, the dash klights come on, then go out when the defroster times out. ?????

98 Jeep Grand Cherokee, The low beam lights went out, the high beams work OK. Has anyone found the common problem yet with this issue? 101,000 miles.

If your headlight switch is the type you pull out, left of the sterr column on dash, switches tend to go bad, I replaced mine and only had 50,000 miles. try checking headlight relay in engine fuse box first.

Headlight headache

Soounds like you have a wire problem. Look under your dash at the headlight switch and the connector for any melting....repair as necessary. Look also around the headlight wiring....sounds like you have a wire that is shorting out.

Jeep Headlights not working. High beam works

had the same problem on my 92....check under the hood on the drivers side, towards the front, there is a "junction box" with all of the lighting wires connecting from the switches to the lights. My wires were all corroded inside,so I cleaned the ends and bought a new box from the local electronic supply store. The problem has not come back.

Low beam headlights go out when switched from high beam

Check the fuse. There is a fuse block under the hood as well as on on the passenger side forward of the door jam, close to the loorboards. If thats not the problem try pulling the switch and make sure that it is not warn out. The switches inside are not what you may think and if you remove it you will see how easy it could fail. Try replacing the switch.

Headlights-no go

the regular lo beams have a separate fuse and relay if I remember correctly. Check Fuse 3, 4, 5 and 16 in the your junction block in the passenger side kick panel.
