It has heat resistance glue, you need to get some sort of compound like goo gone or something to start dissolving the glue

How to attach rearview mirror

Go to your local auto retailer and you can but special glue that is like superglue, but cures in sunlight. Underneath the mirror there is usually a single screw. Remove that and the mirror releases the plate that sticks to the glass.

How do I remove/replace the interior rearview mirror in my 2004 gmc envoy?

The mirror base is usually glued to the windshield and the mirror slides over the base and is held in place with a small set screw. Loosen the screw and the mirror will slide off. ( This is the most common way mirrors are held in place )

1995 GMC Sonoma - how do you reattach a rear view mirror that has fallen off? Found mirror hanging after a very hot day.

You can buy a repair kit at just about any good auto parts store. They work pretty good if you follow the instructions closely.

1995 gmc sonoma rearview mirror fell off

The plastic cover at the windshield end of the mirror slides off toward the roof. You may have to play with it but it does come off. Once it's off, take a small screwdriver, like a sewing machine screwdriver, and put it in the slot on the bottom of the mounting plate and compress the hidden catch. Push toward the windshield and the mounting plate will come off. It will probably take some patience and some time but this is how GM says to take it apart. Hope this helps.

Custom Rear view mirror

Hiya...ALL factory-installed rearview mirrors are installed with different wires due to options.
About 6 different rearview mirrors are installed with those options such as On-Star, light, compass, and those features which use different wires....THIS CANNOT be modified with different rearview mirror....**for example, the Equinox owner attempt to pull out a factory-installed base rearview mirror and put in different one that has compass/temperature built into the rearview mirror**

However, the wires are located inside the front headliner which requires removing the sunvisor (and possible removal of interior plastic trim part at the left/right ends of the windshield) prior to pull the headliner down, and a small metal philips or torx screw is used to secure the rearview mirror onto the bracket glued to the windshield.

The best solution is to leave the original factory-installed rearview mirror in place.
