Question about 1997 Chevrolet C1500

1 Answer

I have a 1997 reg cab silverado c 1500 that I had the ecm replaced in. The truck ran fine but shifted hard. I had the transmission rebuilt by a reputable mechanic who specializes in 4L60E transmissions. I drove the truck around on both highway and city streets for 2 days with no event. It just started to lose power and would not shift smoothly through the gears. When pressing accelerator the RPM's would not increase, nor would it accelerate. The service engine light came on. All o2 sensors have been changed. It has 135000 miles on the engine. Could I have a bad catalytic convertor or am I looking at another transmission problem. It has had a complete tunup and all ignition components have been replaced.

I would check the fuel pressure and replace the fuel filter, if it hasn't been done for a while, also check the air filter.

1997 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 p0758 Won't shift

P0758 code is shift solenoid B electrical /2-3 shift solenoid circuit electrical, It better to inspect the wire going into the transmission they have a tendency to leak transmission fluid into the circuit make inspection for proper connection if you decide to replace the solenoid you still need to inspect the circuit for proper mating. If this solenoid fails and you wait to long to replace it you can loose the ECM due to the high power draw it takes from the ECM.

Lexus rx300 2002 hard shift between 1st and 2nd. Fluid and filter changed 3000mi ago, car has 93000mi

The 1999-2003 Lexus RX300 models have a common failure of the engine computer that causes the harsh shifting of the transmission. You need to get the computer (ECM - Engine Control Module) rebuilt or replaced before it causes permanent damage to the transmission. Even if the transmission is already ruined, the ECM will still need to be repaired. Most often, the transmission is fine though, and rebuilding the ECM will restore the smooth shifts that the Lexus should have. Circuit Board Medics can rebuild the ECM and reprogram it so that you only have to plug it back in when you get it back. See the link below:

Hi, I have a 2004 chevy silverado reg cab 2wd, everytime i turn i can feel it is really loose in the steering wheel? Also when im driving and it shifts i hear a chirping nosie? the nosie only lasts for a...

Your Pit man or idler arm may need to be replaced, if you have a grease gun. Try greasing the front end components and look for any worn, loose steering parts. Keep in mind that there should be some play so try greasing them first. I use marine grease on my jimmy, it's thicker and repels water and moisture better then conventional grease. The chirping in the transmission could be a sign of low transmission fluid or a dirty transmission oil filter causing the low transmission line pressure which will burn out the transmission if not serviced soon. Have the transmission serviced and have then do a transmission pressure line test, they to have a shop that has a tech 2 scanner so they can program the ECM to raise the transmission oil pressure if needed to save the transmission. There is also a simple up grade for just under $50,00 and that is to have the servo's replaced with corvette servo's, you will have a firmer shift but a longer lasting transmission and that can be changed with out dropping the valve body or dropping the transmission oil pan. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.
