Look for a short somewhere in your courtesy lights and wiring, use a multimeter to test for continuity. Replace your vehicle battery if you find it will no longer take or hold a charge. Have it tested out at your local auto parts store for free

If any battery sits for 3 days or more when the temperature is 32 degrees and lower its shorten the life of the battery to months

This means without charging or running the engine

If the battery is good, then there should be power at the starter solenoid. The solenoid is connected to the starter. The solenoid is energized by the ignition key. When the key is turned, the starter solenoid allows power to feed the starter. Try tapping the starter solenoid while turning the key. Have a friend help and use something non metallic to tap the solenoid. Good luck!

My s10 when turn key on it makes couple clicking sounds then everything goes dead. Tried few times an wont start what may be the problem

The "clicking" is usually the starter solenoid chattering. This can be caused by:
  1. Bad Starter Solenoid
  2. Bad Starter
  3. Weak battery not supplying enough current to engage starter.
Turn on the interior dome light. When you crank the engine, if the light dims slightly, the battery is probably OK. If it goes out, or blinks at the rate of the clicking noises, have the battery tested.

Loud buzzing sound

That sounds like the starter motor solenoid chattering. This can happen when the battery is nearly dead and has only enough charge to repeatedly pull down the solenoid. Get someone to operate the key while you listen to the starter via a long screwdriver shaft or similar.

I don't know what the acetone smell could be. Another source here has mention a refrigerant leak from the A/C, but it is a guess.

WON'T START CONTINUOUS BUZZING FROM SOLENOID

Sounds like the battery is dead. You can try a jump start and see if the car will start. If it does I wouldn't have any issue with replacing the battery and see what happens. You can also measure battery voltage with a voltmeter. You should see 12 volts with the key off, on, or cranking. If the battery voltage is not 12 volts than it is dead or low on charge. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

For the first time I pulled a utility trailer with my f150...now for some reason I hear a strange buzzing sound under the dashboard and my battery is completely dead?? The truck will start once I jumped...

Do you have the tow package on your vehicle? If you do it sounds like your trailer electric brake controller is shorted out (normally mounted under the dash on drivers side). There should be a fuse that controls your tow package either in the fuse panel or as an in-line fuse.

If that isn't it, then I would suggest a clamp on amp meter to help you narrow down what is draining your battery. BUT have you had your battery tested to make sure it is good?

2004 JEEP LIBERTY. BATTERY GOOD. THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMMING FROM FUSE BOX UNDER HOOD

I assume you are hearing a starter Relay/solenoid chattering. That's usually caused by:

A dead battery.

A loose connection on Battery or start relay/solenoid.

Bad connection at starter or bad starter.

Good Luck

I was trying to start my car tonight, and it woouldnt turn over. I have all my lights so I know that it is not the alternator or the battery, could it be my starter?

Could be low battery. Did you hear a chattering sound when you tried to start it? Normal battery voltage fully charged is actually over 13 volts. Try to jump start it. If you don't get a response out of it, then check your fuses. Check engine bay fuses (under the hood) and interior fuses (inside the car-drivers side) Also could be starting relay. have a second person turn the key and you listen for a relay under the hood. If the IGN relay does not pull in, hten you either have a bad fuse, or bad relay or bad ignition keyswitch or bad transmission neutral position switch. if relay pulls in and then chatters, it does not have enough voltage to stay pulled in and attempt to run the starter motor at the same time, which is why it will make that fast clicky-clicky noise. if it does pull in and nothing happens then your starter is either bad or not connected electrically.

Hi i have a laguna 2001 after a night of heavy rain the car wont start. iv dryed everything out and now the dashboard lights have come on without the fob key in.towards the front of the car is a buzzing...

that buzzing noise you hear is likely one or more of the relays chattering. basically you will have to replace all the ones that got wet inside. locate the fuse panel under the dash and the one in the engine compartment. put your finger on each one to located the one that is stuck. replace that one first. incidentally you can use wd-40 (penatrating oil) to get rid of the moisture as it doesn't conduct electricity.

Instrument panel out

Normally when you hear a pop noise thats a fuse giving up heh. If you lost all lighting control i belive you popped the 50amp fuse located within the engine bay in fuse box located above the battery.
