Hi!!

The Fuel Pressure Regulator is screwed into the fuel injector rail and all you need is a 1/2 or 9/16 open wrench and unplug the electrical connection and the vacuum hose. If you already know that the regulator is defective, I suggest you buy the new one first so you know how it looks like.

Note: ALLWAYS BE CAREFUL WHEN WORKING ON THE FUEL SYSTEM. Relieve fuel pressure before removing regulator. There is a shreader valve, like the ones in the tires, (wrap a small rag around valve to absorb fuel) press it with a small screwdriver or similar object.

Multiple misfires, plugs, wires and coils are good. Fuel pressure good, o2 sensors new. 2 dealerships cant fix. Costing way to much

I doubt we can be of much help long distance.
If I were the mechanic, I would be checking the injectors among other things. Fuel in the tank could also be the problem, or the fuel filter.

My 03 duramax started fine this morning but only ran for a fiew minnuts then shut off on its own and now it wii turn over but not start it seems to have fuel pressure can it be cam sensor or crank sensor...

To start with, a Duramax Diesel runs on an excess of 20,000 Psi of fuel pressure. Unless you have some specialized equipment,(and know how to use it) I do not know how you could possibly tell that the fuel pressure is OK.

Duramax Diesels also have had a lot of problems with glow plugs. This could explain why it will not start. Then again, it COULD be something totally different like a bad sensor. This could even be caused by a faulty fuel pressure sensor or a bad fuel pressure regulator.

The best way to find out is to scan the engine computer for fault codes and read the engine data from the computer to see if all of the sensors are providing the correct input to the computer.

2001 Chevy 2500HD 8.1. I have no real pressure at the schrader vale on the fuel rail. If I dump gas into the throttle body the truck will run for 4-5 seconds then die. I have replaced the camshaft...

You can shut off the regulator by removing the return line and blocking the return port. If pressure returns, replace the regulator. If still no pressure, check the fuel filter. Is there pressure behind it? If you remove it, can you blow thru it from behind? If the filter is not blocked, replace the pump.

Loses power above 55 or 60 and up hill

Try a good fuel injector cleaner, like LUCAS brand. See if you can find out how much fuel pressure you have also.

2001 Chevy 2500HD 6.0L, Hard starting.

Check the fuel pressure, bad fuel pump or sock on the fuel pump and fuel filter check spark plugs and check distributor cap, a fuel pump is $273.00 or a bad injector $110.99 or BWD Fuel Vapor Pressure Sensor for $35.99 any of these parts could cause the problem, so without doing a fuel pressure test it is a guess, if the vapor switch is bad it could cause a long crank time if the fuel pump is bad it has a check valve in the fuel pump, if the check valve goes bad the pump can't maintain fuel pressure so on start up the fuel has to pump from the tank all the way up to the fuel rail, if the injectors is bad it could leak after engine shut down and cause you to lose fuel rail pressure. Also the fuel vapor sensor could be stuck open and could cause the problem, all need to be tested, you can rent the fuel pressure tester from AutoZone or advance auto or Shucks they return your money when you bring the tool back as long as you buy the parts to repair it from them. That would be the first thing I would check fuel pump pressure and if you replace the pump then change the fuel sock as well. That model was not meant to burn ethanol and can kill the fuel sock the fuel pump and filter.

SILVERADO 2500 HD shuts down to 2000 rpm

Your truck is going into "limp home mode". Their is a problem with the fuel injection system. quite a few possible causes. possibly 1. pressure regulator failing. 2. fuel pump failing to provide proper pressure. 3. fuel filter 4. fuel line partial blockage between the tank and the fuel injection pump. There may be other causes and the items I mentioned can be difficult to check out. Good Luck!
