You may want to try phoning your local auto parts store as this item will have a different price depending on what part of the world you live.

Depending on what part of the country you live in 100-290 for the radiator. check out ebay, they have smokin deals on radiators and they usually ship free with like three day delivery cause the local radiator chain nearest you will pickup the order. labor for that vehicle properly quoted should be 1.8- 2.4 hrs to replace. whatever the shop rate hourly.

I have a 1997 dodge grand caravan with a 3.8L I replaced the radiator cooling fan relay switch and fuses but when idling for more than 5 mins. the van starts overheating

Water pump impeller could be bad or thermostat is stuck shut. I would change thermostat first, easy to change, cost under $10.00 Water pump is hard to change in this van, you have to remove right tire, then inside wheel well, then loosen 3 top motor mount bolts which will lower engine so you can get to water pump and tensioner.

Slips when shifting then hits hard. now theres fluid under pass wheel well when checking fluids "coolant and trans" they look same and smell same w/ grey foam. they only come in contact in radiator. maybe...

Iam guessing the trans oil cooler in the radiator failed, and now you have coolant in the trans, and it is ruined and will have to come out and be rebuild and a new radiator installed.

Only my personnal thoughts, but I don't care for vans and won't even ride in one, as there not safe, in the event of an accident. I would rather see you get rid of any caravan, and seeing as how yours is 13 years old,I would get an SUV that is safer and maybe only 5 years old. Don't put money into a 1997.

Radiator leaking terribly (97 Grand Caravan, 3.8L)

Radiators with plastic top and bottom tanks have a limited life and if they leak it is usually terminal and will probably need to be replaced. Any radiator shop can pressure test your system. Replacement is not a huge job but radiators have become relatively expensive.

1997 Dodge Neon over heating, water pump replaced, timing chain, and thermastat all new , I think it's the radiator or the bottom radiator hose.

it could infact be blockage or something in the radiator... or look for significant leaks... i have had a radiator that got clogged for no reason... you can go on ebay and find a NEW radiator for a good 50 dollars

My dodge caravan 2001 is giving heating troubles. Will blow some hot air and then after some time, starts blowing cold air.

Ya I would almost guarantee you that the radiator is shot.
You will need a new one.
Cost 800.00 to 1100.00 to get a mechanic to install.
You can buy one your self for about 300.00.
Do it yourself.
to test if that's the problem try this.
Fill the radiator all the way to the top with coolant
Run the van till its warm check hoses to feel for heat.
If its all hot and good..then id say you got awhile before you will need a radiator.
What will happen next is your van will start to over heat when you least expect it to.
Good luck

They are electric and controlled your cars computer, and can run for several minutes after your van is turned off. If they never stop your battery would run down and the van would not start at all
