My ford f-150 only backfires through the intake manifold while in gear at full throttle

Change your spark plugs, spark plug wires, and oxygen sensor. Next, test your coil out and see if it is giving you full power. After you do that, clean out your MAF/MAP sensor. Use a digital multimeter to test these components out

1990 2.9 bronco 2 ..bucking backfiring, and wont idle up..

It sounds like a major vacuum leak into the intake manifold. Check all of the hoses attached to the intake and throttle body for leaks including the power brake booster hose.

I have a 1995 f-150 and it idles at 1100 RPMs in park and when i put it in gear it goes to 800 or 900 RPMs. does anyone know why it is idling so high

Hello, This is usually the reason. There is an Intake Manifold leak that is letting extra air pass into the motor instead of flowing through the Throttle. It is the same thing as having the Throttle open further with your foot pedal. You must find out where the leak is.

Sometimes you need to take a spray bottle of water and while the engine is running, mist the seams of the Intake manifold, Vacuum lines, and EGR Diaphram. When you hit the leak, the engine RPM will change, the engine may stall or stumble. Some people use choke cleaner to do the test, but it has to be safe for plastic and rubber parts and is flammable. Plus your motor is idling at a good clip and you do not want the choke cleaner blown on your paintjob. You may find that retightening the Manifold bolts will fix the problem. Then retest and finish with an ATV at the leak , if you do not want to pull the Intake.

If you do not find anything then take off the plastic air duct at the Airhorn(metal) and spray a cleaner in the butterfly valve at the throttle, pull back on the throttle and wipe the Airhorn clean and try the idle again. If no success, drive to Autozone, Oreillys, Advance or similar autoparts for a scan. The 3 places I mentioned will do it for free.

98 windstar starts, backfires won't throttle up. Put it in gear and it dies. Used to die at stop light.

Check for any vacuum leaks first. If you have a scanner scan for any codes and rear the MAF sensor reading . But most likely you will have bad intake manifold gasket ( gross vacuum leak ) .

there isn't one they have a throttle body that is on top of the intake manifold.

No vaccum on brake booster inlet

make sure the vac line is connected to the intake if so replace one way valve at booster

1997 ford f-150 starts then backfires thru intake and then shuts off.

most likely the feul pump. test the feul pressure with a gauge. look of ther little metal feul line on the intale manifold. tst pressure. have freind listen at the rear of the truck for the pump prime. key on only. then start the truck, friend should hear pump running. could also need a timming chain but pump is more tlikely

2001 Ford F-250 need location for IAT sensor is it part of the mass airflow sensor unable to locate it from the intake to the throttle body.

In the intake manifold on drivers side by the fuel rail. It's not part of the MAF. Intake air temperature.
