If there is no compression on that cylinder,then the most likely reason is the valves,intake,and exhaust,are stuck open.

Could be a fuel injector, as long as you are getting around 150PSI in that hole I wouldn't think it would register a miss fire.

Misfire on Cylinder 3 swapped plugs between 3 and 4 on Pontiak Aztek 2003. Misfire remained on cylinder 3. Swapped ignition coil 3 and 6 with ignition coil 1 and 4 misfire still on cylinder 3


Try a new plug wire on cyl 3 if that doesn't fix it you could have a bad valve or compression problem on cyl 3 Try doing a compression test also If it has injectors for each cylinder you could have a bad injector for cylinder number 3

What should the compression be at on a 1997 geo prizm.


which engine. the 1.6 or 1.8 toyota engine (its a corolla in snake skins) 4afe or 7afe ,
cold or hot?
warm / hot , is specified in the Factory service manual.
most cars get at least 150PSI (wide open throttle) hot (warm) , sparks out.
the compression ratio is the key factor for compression.
The 7A has 9.5 CR, way more than the 4A.
if way low on all cylinders the cam belt slipped, ever do a belt job at 60k?

here is an actual test off a good, 7afe
Compression test dry: CYL 1=210/CYL 2=200 CYL 3=205 CYL 4=205

when the belt slips the PSI can drop to 90 easy
and fail.
rules:
battery charged
spark plugs removed
block open throttle (and if smart pull fuel pump fuse)
crank until the needle goes steady. using remote start cable at starter lug, works best (safety , 3 ways)
bingo
repeat

03 SL500 REPLACED SPARK PLUGS, COILS STILL MISFIRES ON 1 WHAT ELSE?


Switch spark plugs, ignition coils and fuel injectors from cyl 1 to 3.
See if misfire goes to cyl. 3. If that happens replace the damaged part.
If is still on cyl. 1 check the compression of the cyl. 1.
If that's ok see if the air mass sensor is working fine.
Also check if there is oil in the plug of the lambda sensor.

My crank shaft is rotating twise the crank shaft. HOW MY 1342 FIRING WILL OCCURE?, I can spare only 30 digree for charge and spark plug contact. THERE ARE ONLY 2+2 CYLINDER. 180 DIGREE APPART KINDLY REPLY...


Your crankshaft turns 2x times the camshaft. Put it this way as # 1 cylinder reaches TDC (top dead center) of the firing/compression stroke, and this will be after a (8 degs BTDC) spark to ignite the air/fuel mix, the # 3 cyl. will be at BDC of the intake stroke and as #1 begins its power down stroke, (during explosion of air/fuel mix), #3 begins its compression up stroke, the #4 cyl. will be coming down with #1 cyl. but #4 will be in the beginning of its intake down stroke, and #2 cyl. will be coming up with #3 but #2will be in its BDC of the exhaust stroke. Which has just fired previously to #1. 1342134213421342 etc. Now the cam turns to open / close the valves; In the outline above, #1 cyl. valves will both be closed. #3 cyl. will have the intake starting to close at this point. #4 cyl. will just be starting to open its intake valve, and #2 will be starting to open its exhaust valve. Is all this clear as mud? So as the crank makes one full rotation (in a 4cyl. engine) only the firing of one cylinder has happened.and at every rotation one cyl. will fire. So #1 at TDC then one full rotation, #1 back at TDC, but this TDC is half of its 4 cycles, (1)Intake, (2)compression, (3)power, (4)exhaust. this 1234 refers to the 4 cycles of the rotation not firing order.

I have never instaled a distributer before and i would like advice. i have a 1990 chevy s-10 blazer 4.3 liter auto trans


first set motor to top dead center cyl 1 thei insert distrib to first plug point remember it is rare you wont need to ajust distrib just make sure you are tdc and not on an intake or exhaust stroke as every cylinder has 3 strokes
1 intake
2 compression and fire
3 exhause

so make sure you are on compression stroke cyl 1
insert distrib to first cyl point and snug it down just remember you will likely have to ajust it

I have a 1.8 n13 sohc pulsar that will not start. It has spark and fuel but compression seems low. Cyl 1 - 100psi, cyl 2 - 80psi, cyl 3 - 100psi and cyl 4 - 70psi. I would like to know what acceptable...


It might have a damaged valves caused by slipped timing belt making the piston and valves banged each other. That is why the compressions are low. Big job.
