The further procedure to rest is as follows:-- Resetting the Convertible Top This is the procedure to reset the convertible top in case you have used the emergency release handle that's located under the rear seat. This works on '97 328iC, which has the fully-automatic top. It may also work on other E36 models and years (caveat emptor). The owner's manual says to take the car to a dealer for service, but why do that when the procedure is so easy? The owner's manual describes the method for closing the top manually, presumably in case you have a dead battery with the top down and it starts to rain. The top mechanism is driven by two electric motors that are located in the trunk -- one for the lid of the storage bin and one for the top itself. Closing the top manually requires (1) releasing the two motors from their transmission drives (using the afore-mentioned lever, which through a cable release mechanism causes the motors to pop away from their drives), pulling the top out of its storage bin, and then using an Allen wrench (from the tool kit in the trunk) to fully close and lock the top to the windshield. The allen wrench gets inserted into a socket that's hidden behind a plastic cover at the leading edge of the top, and then you turn it many many times to simulate the action of the electric motor. Note - there are interlocks between the storage bin lid and the trunk that prevent you from opening both at the same time. Once the two motors have been disengaged, the top can only be operated manually -- the LED in the control switch blinks, and the owners manual says you have to take the car to the dealer to reset the correct operation of the top. The reason is that the two electric motors have to be re-engaged with their drive mechanisms and also re-synchronized with each other (you wouldn't want the top to crash into the lid of the storage bin).
There is a fairly easy way to reset all of this yourself First, manually open the top as described above (the motors must first be disengaged - so if the red handle hasn't been pulled, now is the time to do so). Place the top back into its storage bin, and then close the lid of the bin as far as it will go. Open the trunk so you can get access to the motors. You may need to push down on the storage bin lid so that it closes far enough to allow you to open the trunk - there's a safety interlock that prevents the trunk from being opened if the lid is open at the same time. Working inside the trunk, remove the carpet liner from the left side (driver's side) of the trunk. There are two plastic clips that hold the liner in place -- you can pry them out with a screwdriver. Behind the liner are the two motors that work the top mechanism -- one drives the top and the other is for the lid. Each motor is mounted on a spring-loaded pivot mechanism. The gears on the motors normally engage the gears for their respective transmission mechanisms, but when the release lever is pulled the motors pop away and disengage. So you have to push the motors back into their original positions so that the gears re-engage. When you do this the spring-loaded catch mechanism will firmly latch in place. Be sure that the motors are firmly seated into the drive, and not just partially engaged. Once both motors are re-engaged, get into the car, and with the ignition key in the off position press and hold the top control switch in the up (for closing) position. Continuing to hold this switch, turn the key to the "accessory" position (without starting the car) and hold it there. After about twelve seconds the lid will be sucked down into the locked position, and then after a few more seconds the top will start its normal closing procedure. The motors are now re-synced, and should be all set. Work the system a few times to ensure that both motors are properly engaged and all is well. Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

I have a saab 2004 convertible that leaks whenever it rains

Some of the adjustment procedures (clearance between windshield and top) require shims and fabric removal. Also the cable adjustments require special tools. I have included all adjustable procedures below. If you cannot get the top adjusted into specification with these procedures, you will need to take the vehicle to the dealership.

Here are the adjustment procedures:

A soft top cover fore-and-aft and lateral adjustment

The soft top cover can be adjusted fore-and-aft, laterally and vertically. The adjustment is done to provide a pleasant appearance and a correct fit between the body and the boot lid.

Custom Car parts
The different adjusting points are detailed below. The order in which the adjustments are done depend entirely on the soft top cover adjustment when the work begins.

Need to reset the soft top on a maserati spyder

Manual roof procedure
The procedure in the manual is just for closing the top.
A) Turn key to OFF for several seconds to bleed off hyd pressure.
B) Turn key to MAR (full electrical, but before start)
C) Remove cap on bulkhead behind the right-hand seat and use flat head screw driver to unfasten the hyd unit valve in order to relieve the oil pressure in the circuit.
D) Remove the cap on the bulkhead behind the left-hand seat and using screwdriver or allen wrench press until the top covering (panel behind roll bars that covers the convertible top well) until the panel's locks are released - you may have to tap the wrench to release the locks.
E) Lift the top covering manually and keep it open while extracting the top from its well.
F) Remove top from well until the front part is near the windshield frame.
G) Lift the rear part of top (rear window) upwards and lower the top covering until the hooks are resting on their respective locks.
H) While still keeping rear part of convertible top lifted upward press Button 1 to attach the top covering locks.
Button 1 is the forward one
Button 2 is the rear one.
I) Make sure locks are fastened. if not - try pushbutton 1 again. If necessary repeat D and H
J) Rest rear part of convertible top on top of covering.
K) At front of convertible top, open (deploy) the top's hooks by using allen wrench to turn the pin mechanism. (located in center of front headliner)
L) Press top unto windshield frame and use wrench to lock the hooks.
M) Press the rear of convertible top, so hooks on rear top insert into respective slots and press Button 2 to secure.
N) Keep Button 2 pressed until hooks properly fasten.

If the top is still tightly latched at the front, you can just start at step "G":
While holding the back of the top in the air, and the "top cover" resting down on its "hooks", press button 1 until it seats well.
Then lower the back of the top down to mate its "hooks" and press it down while holding button 2 until the top seats well.

I can't get my convertible top to go up or down, it is stuck half way. Is there a manual release for it?

The convertible top motor and release lever are in the luggage compartment.
From the Bentley manual, the following general procedure is suggested in order to close the top in an emergency situation.
Main motor. To release the top linkage from the motor, lift the left corner of the rear seat to access emergency release handle.
It is then possible to push the top manually to a near closed position. In case of the semi-automatic top, simply attach and lock the front latches.
Front latches. Once the fully automatic convertible top has been released from the motor and manually pushed to near-closure, emergency latching of the top is possible by using the S-shaped hex key provided in the emergency tool kit(attached to the trunk lid underside).
First, remove the the plastic cover over the latch motor in the front bow of the convertible top.
Next, use the hex key from the tool box to crank the front latches shut.

Trunk, backend of car stuck in up position

My 2007 EOS stops with the truck up in the air, going up or down, when the temperature is very hot. The manual says if the hydraulic fluid gets too hot, you must wait for it to cool. I find this unsatisfactory as I live in a very hot state. I had it in the shop several times, then found this in the manual, and took it in again last week; the service manager at the dealer says he has seen reports of this, but there is not solution that he knows of. I am contracting the National Headquarters this week, and then an attorney if they do not remedy it as I only have a few more months of warranty to work with them....hope this helps.

THERE IS A RESET SOLUTION. The manual has a reset for the top to do it automatically and adjust itself, for when it hits the cover on the way down. I am not sure of the procedure but do know it exists. Consult the manual is what I was told.
