You need to buy the fittings first they are sold by a company called HELP motormite. Very common to go bad. You will need to buy or borrow springlock tool. Are sold seperately or in a set. What they are is a garter spring that will disconnect quick connector on fittings. The parts store will have them too.

3.4l engine. How do I bypass heater core?

go to an auto parts store and get an adapter that the hoses will fit that is in an L shape or U shape. clamp off the heater hoses and undo them from the heater core. the clamping is so you won`t loose too much anti-freeze. install the hoses on the adapter and clamp tight. that's all.

How to replace heater hose bypass fitting on a 1997 buick lesabre with a 3800?

You will have to remove the alternator and belt tensioner. then remove the remove the alt bracket the fitting is inserted in. Be careful not to break fitting off in block. This happened to me once because the fitting had deteriorated and became fragile. I spent alot of time fishing the pieces out of the engine. This was a pretty easy repair job, not something you would want to pay a mechanic to do.

I need to replace the heater hose fitting on the 03 chevy impala 3.8L .. It's just a small plastic L shaped fitting with o rings on both sides. Can anybody tell me the steps to get it out and another back...

Have to remove the serp belt and alternator, unbolt the tensioner, there are 2 of those plastic elbows,
Think the are just 4 bolts holding the tensioner on.
Taking the tensioner pulley off makes it easier, note, left hand thread on the tensioner bolt

1998 Ford Taurus, heater won't blow hot air through any vent including defrost, coolant level is okay, no heat no matter how long car is run, car doesn't overheat, can't get warm air even if run at air...

common problem is the water resivor cracks up at the bottom... it appears that your water level is fine because the car doesnt over heat but i am willing to bet that resivor doesnt have water to the top. The radiator will hold just enough water to keep it cool. I replaced mine 3 times the sulution is doing to sound weird but go to the junk yard and get one off a murcury sable. dont know why but the sables res doesnt crack like that

What is causing your overflow tank to be empty and i don't see no leaks anywhere?

could be a number of areas; series 2 3800 engines have a problem with the intake plenum- it is made with plastic and over time warps causing hard starts, poor idling and coolant loss; there is also a bypass hose that leads to the intake and attaches to a fitting; this fitting is sometimes made of plastic and disentegrates-the threads break apart; water pump also is a common problem- if it is leaking, there is a weep hole on the underside that will drip coolant when the motor is running; finally check all ur hoses and the hose that leads away from the overflow

Drain the coolant. Remove the dashboard first, then a bunch of air ducts, then the heater core cover. Remove the heater hoses in the rear of the motor, and finally the heater core.
