Yes. 96-99 are the same. 95 are different. 94-88 are the same. thats the most i can tell you off the top of my head. As long as the trannis are the same type they'll fit. For example a 700r4 from an 86 will fit into a 88 with a minor adjustment. But an 86 700r4 will not fit into a 86 that had a TH-400 without major changes. So as long as they're both 4L60E within the years mentioned above they'll interchange just fine.

4l60e interchange

Sounds like you already have the 98 trans if you look at the Trans I.D. tag and the #'s are the same on yours and the 98 then it will work if not it will not operate properly. How do you know the trans is bad and please don't take this wrong I'm just asking ?? because you don't give enough info for diagnosis.

I have a 93 2wd suburban with the 4l60e, my questIon is will a 4l60e out of a 97 van work with my suburban. What can I do to make it work?

Is the van rear wheel drive?
Same transmission, same configuration? If they are, call your local salvage/junk yard. Some friendly guy there can check the Hollander Interchange Manual to see if it's a direct swap (that's about all the manual tells-yes or no, on a direct swap). If it's yes, clear sailin' for YOU! But if it's a no, you will have to find the differences to see if it's still a feasable venture. (I wanna know, too.) Several things come to mind: is gearing the same for same final drive ratio? Electronic shift points the same, same computer hookups, (the '97 would be OBD II) Can you incorporate the controls into your suburb? I hope you find an answer.

What is difference between a 1995 4l60e and a 1997 4l60e trans? can a 97 work in a 95?

I just answered the same question for another person. Physically the transmissions will interchange; just be sure to check ALL electrical plug's BEFORE installation AND change your linkage arm. The flywheel SHOULD be the same diameter also, just be sure to check the torque converter bolt pattern b4 installation. Lastly,be sure that the dip sticks are the same........ALL the part's on both transmission's are interchangeable, change as necessary.

I have several S10's from an 84 to a 99 which are all prone to both engine and trans failures. As either a trans or an engine went bad, I have kept them as parts trucks now I have a few that need...

the 2 wd and 4wd transmissions are not interchangeable. 95 - 2000 should be the same, 89 - 94 should be the same. check for an ID number on the trans pan, the newer ones should be 4L60E, the older ones could be 4L60 or 200R4. good luck!

I have 1993 gmc 4l60e trans could some one tell me what other vehicels this trans. is in

Suburban,Yukon,Tahoes basically large suvs and trucks share the transmissions, but need to use vin number to know, dealer has that information if selling this transmission tell buyer to call dealer with their vin number to see if it is compatible.

4L60E for 1997 1500 chevy 4x4 worked fine now nothing

Athough the trannys look the same ,there not.Years 95,96,97 and 98 ,the trannys need to be from the exact year in orded to work correctly. If yours is a 1997 4l60e you will need one from a 97.The 10th digit in your vin determines the year and yours should be a -v-.Be sure when installing a new tranny you flush the trans. cooler lines and radiator cooler for the trans. to prevent any metal from your old trans. going in to your new one.Hope this helps.

Replacing a 4L60E with a 700R4?

Not with good results, the 4L60E is run by your ecm, the 700R4 while looking close to the same does not relie on your ecm for commands,it relies on a cable to regulate your line pressure.
