This sucks when it happens, I have 2 grand prix and have had this happened a few times, First, if you need to get it up RIGHT NOW! This instant even if its late at night? Well its do able. You can remove the paneling, dis engage the motor and prop it up. You might have to cut a piece of wood to hold it up temporarily so that someone wont break in and steal stuff. If you just need a fix it solution, there are a few possibilities, the first thing i would recommend would be to check the window switch, they tend to go bad often. You can do this by 2 ways, One? buy a new one, or 2 get a second grand prix switch from a friend or a neighbor or from someone else and plug it in. If this works, just replace the switch, if it doesnt, then remove the door paneling, and place electricity on one of the connectors on the motor (dont worry which side as they both receive electricity when going up or down) if this works, its a faulty switch, if it doesnt, it might be (95% sure) the motor itself.

Windows won't stay up on a 1999 pontiac grand prix. The motors work but not sure what part needs replaced

If you can hear the motor running then you are in good shape. The arm/lifting mechanism most likely lost its pivot pin which will be evident when you open up the door panel

I have a 1999 pontiac grand prix. I put the window down today and it stopped halfway. I tried putting it back up but it would not move. I could hear the motor running both up and down but the window...

The cables on the window regulator broke or derailed, either way you need to replace the regulator to fix it. The regulator is the part that moves the window up and down.

I have a 1999 pontiac grand prix the window will not go up ? I have juice to the motor when i push the switch in the down position but nothing in the up. Do you think a switch or may be the motor?

I have a 99 grand prix, Its definitely the switch, I have fixed mine 4 times in 5 yrs (they are defective) I know because I have 2 grand prix and they both fail. Anyway, you can fix them if you know how, if you dont, see if you can borrow a friends grand prix switch to replace and try before you buy one (just a thought) and if you dont need your old switch, you can give it to Hope this helped, It sucks not being able to roll your window down because of the fear that it wont come back up. Especially in the winter/Rainy Season...Let us know if this helped.

My 97 grand prix windows wont go down my passgener window qiut first now my drivers side quit 2 my motors r good in both sides

Pop the door panel off, replace the actuator. go to the salvage yard and get a working one for $16.00 You've got an upper and lower nut/bolt on the actuator and 3 screws holding down the motor bracket. Very easy fix. make sure the window rides in its track when you're done. If not, you'll burn the motor out after three tries.

Power window on 1999 pontiac grand prix gt 2 door driver side broke. motor still works but window wont stay up.

what I would recommend is that you will have to test the window actuator first. You will need to remove the door panel to get at the actuator. From there, just jump the actuator to see if the window goes up or down. Don't worry about which terminal is positive or negative, they are switched back and forth by the control switches.

1999 pontiac grand prix driver side window will not go up, can i get it up manualy for now

you have to remove the door panel to do so. once off, unplug the window motor and put a volt meter on the plug that plugs into the motor, not the motor itself. push the up/down button and if you get about 12 volts, if you do then your motor needs to be replaced. if not then the problem is prbably the main control switch on the drivers door. You have to remove the motor in order to get that window up or else it won't budge.

I have a 1999 grand prix gt and the front window goes down ,but now will not go back up, all the other windows are fine,do I need to replace the window motor?

Unfortunately you probably do need to replace the window motor , however as a preventative measure in the future use a special silicon lube you can aquire from Napa to lube up the window runners allowing less resistance for the electic motor to raise the wiindow in the future avoiding this problem.
