Question about Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

My 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee keeps shutting off when it seems to get to the operating temp. No check engine light comes on, but it seems to happen about the same point every time..not sure if its a relay or other electrical issue, but but its happening more often now and like to address it here if anyone has an idea what it might be. thanks

You need to isolate the cause by determining if you are loosing spark or not. It's unlikely but possible the fuel is stopping but more likely the ignition system is shutting off. After that, it's either going to be an engine sensor or the computer itself.

Need input on engine code for engine temp staying low too long

Have you not googled your obd codes
& diagnosed them, to find a problem

No idea why you would do all you did

You always resolve code related issues first

The coolant temp should be 210 all the time

Sounds like your not looking at scan tool data
or following any factory trouble charts or actually
know what coolant temp is,your just assuming & not
doing the required testing to verify things

1993 jeep grand cherokee v8 no spark from coil

Look to see if the check engine light come on, on your dashboard, when you turn the ignition on. If that light does not come on, then your ecu computer is in need of repair and your jeep will not start until that light does come on.
Alternately, if that light is on, it could be your crank sensor that's bad on the jeep.

Fuel pump not operating. 1993 jeep. Need wiring diagram.

A non working fuel pump in those early year Grand Cherokees is usually either a bad pump or an ecu in need of repair. Make sure that the check engine light comes on, on the dashboard, when you turn the key to on. If that check engine light does not come on, the ecu is bad. If it does come on, more than not the fuel pump is shot and will have to be replaced.

1993 jeep grand cherokee wont start till check engen light comes on

Your ecu computer is in need of repair. You have what is known as the Delayed Check Engine Light problem. There are a few components inside the ecu that are slowly failing and eventually will completely fail. The ignition has to be turned on, for a few minutes, and the jeep won't start until the check engine light eventually comes on. This is because the ecu feeds power to the fuel pump and injector relays and won't feed power until that light comes on. Have it repaired.

check intake manifold air temp sensor and engine coolant sensor...one may be out of range but not enough to turn on dash light. tests and specs can be found in chiltons or haynes, test is done with digital multi-meter.

Fan keeps running after engine is shut off

It is normal for the fan to run when engine is off. Engine temps actually rise when the engine is shut off, the heat will rise through the engine compartment. So a Coolant temp sensor controls when the fan shuts on and off, obviously based on the temps of the anti-freeze. The fans are a high draw item, but It would take much longer than an hour breakfast for the battery to run dead. I would check out the battery and charging system first. Is the CEL on? Let me know and we will trouble shoot from there. Thank you for using fixya.com
