Question about 1994 Mercury Sable
The trans is slipping. check the level. with the engine hot, remove the dipstick and wipe clean. it will be located where the engine and trans meet. make sure it's not the oil dipstick. insert the stick and remove. the level should be between the lines or holes. if the fluid level is between those marks, don't add any. the type of fluid is printed on the dipstick. if the level is low add enough to the full mark only. add small quantities. 1/2 qt at a time. then check the level. if the level is good, have the trans fluid and filter changed. if that desn't work, there are mechanical problems.
