Was rattling and now has stopped but truck lacks

The catalytic converter was making a rattling sound. wasn't sure if it was the converter or a pebble caught in the shield around it. The rattling stopped a few days ago but the truck now lacks power especially in high range. Can't get bolts out of flanges to eyeball (as best I can) the inside of converter. Don't know if maybe fuel filter got clogged at the same time the rattling stopped or what... Thanks in advance.

WOW.. thats a hard one to diagnose... Unless you are getting CEL I would start with fuel filter as its easiest to change and least expensive. The fuel filter on your vehicle is under the drivers side door on the frame rail of the truck underneath the truck. Some models from same year have either snaplock connectors and some have compression nuts... you can see what type by sliding under drivers side door and looking on rail. If the CAT were blocked or malfunctioning you would have CEL from an emissions error sensor.

01 toyota avalon with codes PO300-306 car runs rough and idles rough now while driving it start loosing power and making a snake rattling sound

Is the rattling sound coming from the exhaust? I'm wondering if perhaps you have a loose catalytic converter. P0300 (multiple cylinder misfires) and P0306 (cylinder #6 misfire detected) are probably the cause as to why the car is sluggish, shakes, runs rough and lacks power. Make sure to take a close look at your ignition system (spark plugs, ignition wires, coils...). A spray bottle filled with soapy water can help you find voltage leaks on the wires and coils. Just spray the wires and coils and look for arcing. Replace any component that arcs. Other causes can be fuel injectors, vacuum leaks...).

Sounds like a rattle under the van when stopped or idleing

It is most likely an exhaust heat shield or a catalytic converter that is breaing apart inside. Get underthe van when it has cooled off and "thump" the exhaust with your fist to see if you can locate the rattle. Often, the heat shield welds break where they are attached to the catalytic converter. I have fixed many of them by taking 2 or 3 large screw-type hose clamps and screwing them together to make them long enough to reach all the way around the catalytic converter and tighten them down to stop the rattle. If the noise sounds like it is coming from INSIDE the converter, you will have to replace the catalyst. (or ignore the noise)

My car makes rocks in a can sound when accelerating and stopping also middle of exhaust pipe rattles please help?

this may mean your catalytic converter is broken and the rattle from the exhaust hanger that could have broke when the catalytic converter was struck by hitting a speed bump too hard or a curb.

Blazers in park = rattling noise ..... Blazers in drive = whining sound & while driving on interstate (ranging 35mph-65mph) I can feel it hesitate when I press on gas almost as if it can't (but it doe)...

have you had the catalytic converter checked. When they break apart they will make a rattle ling noise. eventually the broken pieces will plug the exhaust and cause a lack of power feeling. When the exhaust is cold hit the bottom of the catalytic converter with your hand. If it rattles it is bad and needs to be replaced.

Rattling sound from the exhaust

The metal shielding around your catalytic converter could be rattling or the rubber donut that holds the rear tailpipe could be bad. When your car is cold shake your tailpipe and see if you can reproduce the noise. If you can your tailpipe donut is likely bad. Three dollars at any auto parts store. If it does rattle when you shake your tailpipe then the heat shield for your convert could be loose. You need to tighten it up another piece of metal between it and the converter to keep it from rattling. If you hear the rattle when you go over bumps too then your exhuast is probably, loose. Crawl under there and stake shaking things, I am sure you'll find the problem

Replace muffler, not the catalytic converter which started to rattle. Stop running, will crank but will not start. can it be the catalytic converter.

if the converter is rattlin then it needs to be replaced because the element inside is broken. if the jeep still does not run try removing the catalytic converter to see if the restriction is too much. should start if the converter is restricted. if it doesnt maybe its whatever caused the converter to go bad in the first place
