Basic AC system consists of Compressor pump (on engine), Condenser (front grill with radiator) and Evaporator (Firewall). Pump has two ports output (high pressure) and return (low pressure). Follow lines from pump. High side is usually between pump and condenser. Follow lines and find second port this will be low side (refill) port. Paint or replace port caps (red high, blue low). Also, refrigerant in system determines port size (R12 or R34).

The ports on my 2005 silverado are on the same line, which is very confusing but, in between the two ports is the metering device (orifice) which changes the high pressure gas into a low pressure gas.The two ports are of a different size, with the low pressure being the smaller of the two. You can put your hand on the line, on each side of the metering device connection and the high side will be hot and the low side will be cold

as you are standing in front of car on left side behind air filter is a receiver alum canister with a cap on top this is the high pressure side just below the receiver and under the firewall you will see a cap this is the low pressure or fill valve
