2005 mustang is overheating and shutting off. Turned the key and it won't stay on. I noticed that the fan might not be turning on. How do I troubleshoot? I put water in the radiator and didn't...

It could be a leak, check your radiator for any leaks, also check upper and lower radiator hoses, water pump, etc. But you said the fan doesn't kick on even when it's reading "hot". So I would look into that more. route the wires and locate the plug, make sure it's plugged in, or reseat the cable by unplugging, and replugging it back in. You could also unplug the negative cable on the battery terminal for a few seconds in attempt to reset the ECU (computer).

Radiator fan continues to run. Fan won't shut off when engine is turned off.

Its supposed to keep running even with the car turned off if the car is still to warm, they work off a sensor,, now if it keeps running way to long,, the sensor is bad,, ( if you have to pull the fuse to make it quit after a while,, then check the relay , and then the sensor )

Radiator fans won't shut down

The fans are controlled by the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor mounted in the coolant hose at the top front of the engine. Disconnect the electrical connector and see what happens. Fans should not run. If that cut the fans off replace the ECT sensor.

The ECT sensor provides input to the Engine Control Module which controls the radiator fan ...Its usually the center sensor connector thats Grey..

Where is the thremo relay switch located on a 2003 3.0 audi A4. my problem is the radiator fans won't shut off and have been told this may be the problem

Sounds like your on the right track. The thermal switch closes when the temp reaches a certain temp and this allows power to the fans to draw more cool air into the engine bay. I would start there or you may have a short on that circuit also allowing the power to go to the fans continuously.

Car is over heating, boiling in the overflow, this after 5km's the oil looks fine ?????? help

Check your coolant levels and make sure the hose between the coolant reservoir and the radiator aren't clogged. The cooling fan on the radiator may not be directly driven by the serpentine belt and may be on a clutch. If the clutch is broken the fan won't cool the radiator and the radiator won't cool the car. Get the car good and hot and see if the fan kicks on. To temporarily relieve the overheating in the engine, turn the heat on in your car.

Radiator Fan will not cut off at all even when motor is off

As long as the radiator fan sensor sees a hot engine, the fan will not shut off even if you have the engine shut off. wait and see if it eventually shuts off by its self. The other possibility, is that the radiator fan relay is stuck in the closed position. You may have to replace the relay or the sensor. Hope this helps :)
