Question about Mitsubishi Galant

1 Answer

OK Hi, Mitsubishi Galant 2001 both rear window go down with out a problem with the rear passenges switches, but do not go back up by the same rear switches. But the do go up and down with the main control switch (drivers door)front. You think its the rear switches themselves? It not the motors because the drivers control panel operates them fine!

First I would listen to hear if there is any noise in the passenger rear door when you try and move the window. If so, you have a bad window regulator, they go bad all the time on these.
Next, I would remove your door panel and disconnect the 2-pin connector to the window motor. Place a test light between the two pins on the harness and attempt to roll the window up and down from another switch. If the light lights up both ways, then you have a bad window regulator. If it only lights up one or none of the ways, you either have a bad switch or wiring.
Check the wiring harness in the door jam and check for broken wires, it is a relatively common problem on these Jeeps.
Here is how to remove the door panel:

  1. Remove screws attaching trim panel to door .
  2. Using trim remover (C-4829 or equivalent), detach trim panel perimeter push-in fasteners from door inner panel.
  3. Lift trim panel upward and separate from door.
  4. If equipped, disconnect harness connectors for power accessories.
  5. Disconnect latch rods from inside handle actuator.
  6. Separate trim panel from vehicle.

My rear passenger window won't roll down.

definatly no fuse try and swap the rear window swithes over and see if the other window works with that switch but my guess is that it is the regulator in the door not the motor ,that is the cablr that the motor wind up and down open the door cover and have a look at it
