Question about 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88
85 Delta 88 Royale. Last summer had to replace 1 of the valve cover gaskets twice, Another story, that one! The other side started leaking oil in the winter. I go through about a quart a month. Just under 100k miles and am having to replace the water pump. Is it the end of the world on this car or should I keep it? Is this something a novice can repair?
She should still have some life left in her. The water pump isn't too hard to replace, really no special tools needed. When motors get around that mileage, they will use some oil and have some leaks. As the engine wears, blow by developes and will cause gaskets to leak. I would also check the PCV valve.

Testimonial: "great, fast response! I love the old oldsmobiles and the Delta 88 has been both serviceable and constant for me since I got her about 4 years ago. She had 67k on her then and I have only put on a little over 32k since. I hate to think I should get rid of her."
