Question about 2006 Subaru Outback
It's probably the speaker, not the wiring. I've got one speaker that goes in and out, mostly out. Turns out the diaphragm is getting stuck to the magnet. After seeing the wiring checking your speaker connection would be a much easier place to start.
We hooked up an external speaker to the contact points and got sound, plugged the original back in, no sound. A simple un-intentional patting to the speaker and it started working again.
Will probably be replacing soon.
As a side note, crutchfield sent me some nice installation instructions when I purchased a new wire harness to put in a new radio. Pretty detailed and with photos. Getting in there takes a bit of work, but trying to trace wires would be painful.
