Question about 2006 Dodge Ram 1500
I have a 2006 dodge ram 1500 that stopped shifting one day on the interstate. the clutch disc had tore apart on the flywheel side. replaced the clutch plate, pressure plate, had the flywheel machined, replaced the pilot bearing and the throwout bearing and it still would not shift once the truck reached operating temperature. replaced the entire hydraulic clutch release system and yet again once the truck reached operating temperature it will not shift. when the truck is cold it works flawlessly and drives great but the closer it gets to operating temp the worse it becomes until it will not shift period unless you turn the truck off, get it in gear and turn it back on. the tachometer also isn't working properly and going about 60 - 65 it starting developing a vibration that gradually got worse until i slowed down to almost a stop and drove backroads the rest of the way home with very slight vibration. i have no clue anymore wtf is going on and i was hoping for a possible suggestion before i go blowin money at the stealership. any ideas?
The only time that I have ever seen anything happen like that was due to improper gear oil. You can try and drain the transmission and re-fill it with the proper gear oil, and usually you will want to use 80-90wt. GL-5, but you should make certain that you do use the right gear oil, especially if the transmission has newly processed gears.
