The timing marks should be on the flywheel/flex-plate and on the bell-housing, they are viewed through an access on the bell-housing and there might be a rectangular rubber plug in the access port that you will have to remove before you can see the timing marks.

On the 88 aries w/2.5L where is the tension adjust for the timing belt assembly

BY removing the head you will by necessity have to take the belt off. I suggest that you take particular care to place the crank on TDC and have all the timing marks lined up before you pull off the head. That way if you do not turn the crank and before replacing the head have the cam marks back in the same place then there will be little problem in keeping the timing right. Check your manual and it may have an hydraulic tensioner in which case you will have to physically release the tensioner to fit the belt back on. If the engine has done time then consider replacing the belt as it may be close to needing replacement anyway sand you will be in the process for the head

The part that allows you to adjust the tension on the belt that runs the alternator and water pump flew off my 85 dodge aries while driving down the free way, what do I need to ask for at the parts store?...

Any auto parts store should be able to get this belt tensioner and the belt for you. Tensioners and belts vary in price so expect $40 to $ 90 to pay for the two of them

How about a temperature sensor? If it's faulty it could be sending the wrong messages to your computer and your dash light.

yes you are correct , also replace timing belt while you are in there, just use floor jack to support engine from buttom, you can raise or lower motor with jack to make acess easy when trying to get to bolts or what ever, make sure you line up timing marks before belt removal, good luck.

If your coolant level isn't going down on a regular basis, you may be changing the heater core needlessly, you realize that right? Just checking.
