My brake lights on my Toyota 1997 Rav4 will not turn off. I believe I need a stop light switch. Is this something I can easily do on my own? How?

Check the switch on the break peddle , thay can work loose or renewal good luck colin

hold trip A in with engine and key off while holding trip button in turn key and engine on.
keep holding trip button in until light stops flashing when it stops flashing then release the trip reset button this should clear the maintenance warning light. hope this helps

If all your fuses are good, start looking at your ignition switch. It's the one thing all those circuits have in common.

Something is shorted. You have to find out what and where the short is.

Light gets power from brake light switch/.May be switch got shorted an brake light getting non-stop power causing it not to turn OFF brake light.

Get the brake light switch checked. Check volt at brake light switch.

It can be faulty brake light switch causing the problem or its wiring short for switch.

Did you check for power going to the starter. could be a connection on that side of things. should be able to pull starter and jump batt to it to see if gear pops out and spins.

Remove the 2 wire connector at the master switch and jump it , light goes away the problem is the sensor at the master switch, solution replace brake master cylinder.Light still on , do the same with the switch located in the lower part of the parking brake handle goaes away replace switch, still there inspect wiring for shot, start in the brake light harness, also check the bulbs .

You might need a new Brake Light Switch, it is located by the brake pedal.

i sank my 1997 rav4 at river. Since air bag light is on constantly while engine is on. How do i switch off airbag light?

PUSH AND HOLD RESET ODOMETER BUTTON, TURN IGNITION IN ON POSITION ONLY (DO NOT START ENGINE)UNTIL LIGHT TURNS OFF. TURN IGNTION OFF AND START ENGINE.
