When it's hot inside your car it causes a solder joint on a little circuit board in your Main/Fuel Relay to loose contact. The MAIN RELAY is up above your gas pedal near the cruise control computer. Almost directly behind the dash vent. It will be a gray or black box with a plug of wires connected to it. Use a 10mm socket (with extensions to reach). Bring it into view and tap the Relay, "Plastic Box", while someone tries to start the car. If you can bring it down into better view you can tap it and start the car if you're flexible.

TO FIX THE PROBLEM: Don't buy a new one, just pry the cover off of it with a flat head screwdriver and look close where all the sharp pins are sticking up on the board to find the broken solder connection(s). Heat the faulty pin with a soldering iron until the solder puddles around it and your good to go. The crack in the solder will be smaller than a human hair, look close & wiggle it and you'll see the loose connection. There is usually no need to add solder, what is there is enough, it just needs melted again. Works every time on the Accord, Prelude, Civic and Integra.

I have a 1993 Honda civic. I have no spark. I have replaced fuel pump, main relay, ignitor. Still no spark-Im told this car may have a fuel turn off switch. Where is it located or any suggestions on

How do you know for sure that there is no spark? You should have spark irregardless of fuel. If there is a fuel cutoff switch, it should be located on the driver side kick panel. It is usually a red reset button.

1993 honda civic u.s. lx 4 cyl 5-speed. starts then goes right back off with big back fire. just did full turn up. what could be the problem

Any time there is a back fire issue I check the timing. This is the most likely cause of the problem.

My 1993 honda civic will not start and its getting plently of juice from the battery and i thinking it has to do with the remote for the anti theft alarlm?

Pull a spark plug and see if you are getting spark if not it is probably your coil pack on the distributor. Common prob with civics.

1995 honda civic 97cid sat for two months turns over good has fuel to the plugs seems to be no spark will not even backfire

I would check the distributor function of the Civic's distributor is to engage the coil (via the firing switch) spark. no fire. I hope this helps.

How do i change the spark plugs on a 1993 honda civic lx

You'll need a feeler gauge, a 5/8th inch socket and at least a 6 inch extension, a rachet, and an extendable magnet. Remove 1 spark plug wire boot, try turning or twisting to boot to disconnect. Remove the plug, use the magnet to get the plug out once it is unscrewed. Some spark plug sockets have a rubber peice that helps hold on to the plug when removing.

Check/replace the crank angle sensor, and maybe the throttle position sensor.

1991 Honda Civic. Starter works, engine will not fire.

If you're not getting any spark, it may be the coil or the igniter, both of which are located inside the distributor.
If no fuel, you may have a problem with your main relay.
Check out for more information on these components as well as other possibilities.

First, check all of your connections at the starter. Next try checking your spark plugs. If the spark plugs are soaked in gasoline, then try cleaning them up.Then, if that dont work, try getting another starter from a wrecking yard (that is the cheaper way.)
