Motor running uneven ignition timing unstable even at idle speed

So sorry the delay of responding ( and excuse my bad english) Maybe I should have pointed out more clearly that the uneven running problem was through out the whole driving range. It was the relay (No. 30 in the Europe at least placed as No. 3 at the relay-tray (also seen as No.109 i Haynes auto repair books)). It is the relay supplying the motor-managering computor with electrc power. A new relay was placed and no more problems. Beware that the relay for the fuel pump (No. 167 (in Europe) has been switched on and off just as many a times as relay No. 30. And beware that the original relays have a resistance across the coil in the relay to protect the computor and other electronic devises. my recommendation in this case buy original parts.

If you mean that the idle speed fluctuates, this is normally caused by build up of oil in the throttle valve housing. This oil is blown through the crankcase breather and gets worse as the engine gets old and wears. To remedy this remove intake hose from the throttle valve housing and clean out the oil build up in throttle valve housing in the area of the throttle butterfly. Open throttle valve to enable cleaning.

Truck dies when idling

HI
first I would like to tell you, do this procedure only if the 5th digit of your VIN is C or K.

Description

The engine control module (ECM) learns the idle position of the throttle plate to ensure the correct idle. Anytime the throttle body is cleaned or replaced, the ECM must learn the new throttle position. The idle may be unstable or a DTC may set if the throttle position is not learned.

Conditions for Running the Throttle Learn Procedure

• DTCs P0101, P0102, P0103, P0107, P0108, P0111, P0112, P0113, P0506, and P0507 are not set.

• The engine speed is between 450-4,000 RPM.

• The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) is greater than 5 kPa.

• The mass air flow (MAF) is greater than 2 g/s.

• The ignition 1 voltage is greater than 10 volts.

Throttle Learn

Important: Do NOT perform this procedure if DTCs are set. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code

(DTC) List - Vehicle.

1. Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes.

2. With a scan tool, monitor desired and actual RPM.

3. The ECM will start to learn the new idle cells and Desired RPM should start to decrease.

4. Ignition OFF for 60 seconds.

5. Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes.

6. After the 3 minute run time the engine should be idling normal.

Important: During the drive cycle the check engine light may come on with idle speed DTCs. If idle speed codes are set, clear codes so the ECM can continue to learn.

* If the engine idle speed has not been learned the vehicle will need to be driven at

speeds above 70 km/h (44 mph) with several decelerations and extended idles.

7. After the drive cycle, the engine should be idling normally.

* If the engine idle speed has not been learned, turn OFF the ignition for 60 seconds

and repeat step 6.
8. Once the engine speed has returned to normal, clear DTCs.
Good Luck

How to fix idle speed 2007 trailblazer

The idle speed is computer controlled and not adjustable as there is no linkage or throttle cable, it is a drive-by-wire motor controlled by a potentiometer at the pedal assembly. If there is an idle problem, I would first start by looking for vacuum leaks as this is usually the root cause of an unstable or high idle. You may also want to check to make sure the vehicle is getting up to operating temp. as this can fool the computer into raising the idle to get the engine warmed up faster.

I have a timing problem. Low idle speed that is intermitten and causes a stumble at starts. This problem also occurres during normal running RPM's. Missing electronic signal but intermitten?

Could be bad sensor whether crank sensor, sam sensor, idle air control sensor, bad ignition module, bad coil or even timing belt. if you have a service engine soon light/creck engine light it's more than likely a sensor. If no light, probably timing belt/fuel filter plugged/ or weak fuel pump.

Symptoms 2000 kia sportage Symptoms 2000 kia sportage does not do all the time. Starts runs well but driving road 50mph almost as if ignition shut off split 2nd. Stop car and while running in drive s

Some makers used Vacuum releases for their emergency brakes which had a Vacuum switch connected to the shift assembly. This would account for a stumble if Vacuum vented out through this switch.

More common for shifting stumble to occur from Park to Drive, engaging a load on the engine, not to stumble to a freewheeling Park position. Sounds like idle speed control is sluggish to stabilize the motor.

You also have idle speed control problem with A/C, kind of shows that A/C was what kept the engine running because when you turned the A/C off, the car died.

I am going to give you some Websites for wiring diagrams. Alldatadiy.com amd Autozone.com with free wiring info upon registering your vehicle.

It seems that the base Idle speed control is not working and the A/C idle speed control is.

Also check for Vacuum leaks on the intake manifold by spraying water from a pumpbottle on the seams of the gaskets.

Check ignition Relay or ignition switch for random cutouts. The fusebox layout is on the Autozone site.

I hope my solution helps.

Pre ignition

pre ignition could mean it runs after you turn the key off that would be to high mechanical setting of the idle speed by changing the throttle plate factory setting if you did that to keep it idling turn it back down and find out what that problem is because the idle speed isto high. if this is not the issue, either the timing is incorrect or more than likely the computer is not compatable with this different engine.have fun.

My xj6 runs at high rpms and accelerates on its own

None of those possible problems have anything to do with idle speed. The first thing might be a very weak throttle return spring. The next would be a sticky throttle cable or foot feed pedal that isn't moving freely. Another possibility is a vacuum leak somewhere. Did changing the spark plug in #1 cylinder help the misfire? If not, you may have a partially plugged injector. Fixing the misfire will only increase idle speed some more. Look for an idle speed motor near the throttle body that is supposed to raise idle speed when the engine is cold and lower it back when the engine warms up. Check to see if it is holding the speed too high. If the throttle position sensor tells the computer where the idle speed motor is set, then it could have an effect on idle speed if the sensor is bad. The position sensor is just a fancy potentiometer. Hope some of this helps.
