Is it normal for the revs to stay up when changing gear in a 2002 4x4 3.0L turbo diesel navara?

do they revs drop off when taking pressure off accelerator pedal when out of gear? if only staying high during gear change it would suggest a worn clutch friction/pressure plate so the engine isn't slowing down when clutch is depressed .I'd also have the OBD codes read to see if there is a sensor/switch at fault , but sounds like the clutch to me

Hello, you can try resetting the ECU. Disconnect the battery, or remove fuse #6 from the fuse box under the hood. Wait a minute before you re-install (or reconnect) it.

After diagnosis my v8 740i bmw indicated the "variable valve gear guide sensor for bank 2 and variable valve gear learning stops necessary" currently it's difficult accelerating the engine. would...

You have a v8 with a "variable valve gear guide sensor" on each bank. The trouble code is telling you that bank#2 sensor is faulty, or its signal is not getting to the engine computer.

Consequently, when bank#1 adjusts the timing (under hard acceleration or higher revs), bank #2 is not getting adjusted.

If the variable valve timing is not being activated (low load, load revs) the engine will run more or less normally.

Get the car to the dealer. You risk MAJOR ENGINE DAMAGE if you keep driving it.

Engine over-run between gears

This is a very common problem for ford. I have the same thing every day. It is the computer not reading the temp. When it does that just tap the gas pedal.

Automatic transmissions wont shift into first smoothly

U can do it yourself but it is really messy, u will need a very large drain pan with a plastic garbage can lid with holes in it to catch the fluid and prevent it spaying all over the ground, make sure you don't overfill the trans, all levels (add 2 quarts to start) must be checked with the at around 180 F, if u overfill u can ruin the trans. Does your trans have a fill tube and dipstick? if not u will need to capture the fluid and measure it, put exactly the same amount back in.
